I'm not sure I see an obvious trade for the Jazz to make. Clippers aren't going to trade Tobias. I'm not sure the Jazz want Kevin Love given the state of his health and his contract. I could absolutely see the Jazz making a move or two, but I can't predict what it will be. It could be a moneyball player that no one sees coming.

The obvious trade candidates are Thabo Sefalosha, Ekpe Udoh and possibly Derrick Favors, but I get the sense the Jazz would like to keep Favs for this year's playoff run. He's pretty much our Rudy-lite with the second unit, and it would take a pretty attractive deal for the Jazz to want to move him.

One guy on the radar should be Otto Porter, but his production relative to his salary makes him a bit of a reach. If the Spurs decide to pull the plug on this season, they could offer up an interesting player, maybe Rudy Gay, but I'm not sure how much that moves the needle for the Jazz.

Rubio is not elite at anything. Most importantly, he has never shown that he can consistently shoot well enough to be counted on in that capacity.

I like Rubio, but he doesn't need to be our starting PG if we want to be a contender. It's like hoping Ronnie Brewer will shoot well enough not to be a liability when we should have just upgraded the position.

Harris takes shots from far away and misses a lot, Favors takes close-up shots and makes a lot, and for some reason you like the guy wh takes shots from far away. Any more explanation than that?

So, Harris rebounds next to a bad rebounder, Favors rebounds almost as well next to a good rebounder, and you want to decrease our rebounding ability so gobert doesn't have to fight Favors for rebounds. Got it.

He's about 30 lbs lighter than Favors.

With a PER, WS/48, etc. barely above average as a player (making him a below-average starter).

I think an NBA coach should be able to find a way to play his more talented players, rather than force his players into a system. Right now, only Gobert has better production than Favors. Snyder should be able to find a way to take advantage of that.

I'm in favor of playing the players that produce. Favors is currently our second-best player in that regard. When he stops producing, I'll stop saying he has great value on this team.

I like to follow where the data leads, not some starry-eyed, amateur notion of what should be.

He has produced the last two seasons. Until the 2nd round of the playoffs. When he sat. Because our opponent made it impossible for us to compete with an all world defense first center next to Favors.

If you honestly think we can win a title with Favors starting at PF next to Gobert, you need to take the time to watch contenders play. Favors is valuable as a 3rd big. He is a playoff liability at starting PF.

I expect Rubio to shoot and play better in the second half of the season. He has done it the last 2 years and arguably the last 3.

That said he needs to get benched until he plays better. If he isn't shooting well he kills our team. Start Korver and move Mitchell to the bench. This allows Favors to play more with the starters and get more playing time which he deserves since he is playing so well. It also gives Mitchell a lot more room.

Favors does have good trade value. He is a starter level center on an expiring deal. But it better be a good deal for us because he will be valuable to us.

Exum still has value but Snyder still likes him and sees upside. He still mentions being harder on him then other players because he sees so much potential. Again it better be a good trade if we move him.

Royce could be okay to trade but I think him being Mitchell's best friend is more valuable than whatever he nets in return.

I'm not sure Rubio is worth much more than his expiring contact right now.

Mitchell and Gobert are untradable. Ingles is close to that.

Crowder has some value but probably more to us unless it lands is an upgrade but why would a team do that.

The only trade I see is if an all Star level player gets moved that the Jazz really like. But it will be hard to out bid some other teams.
 
Favors was injured in the second round of the playoffs the last 2 years.

We can win a title with Favors playing some next to Gobert and some backup center.

I would love to upgrade the PF spot. But I would love to upgrade any player outside of Mitchell.
 
Also, Jazz will greatly improve in the second half like they always have under Snyder in non tanking years. A lot of the trades suggested here are premature based on that.
