2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

Right... scared money don't make none.

Well we're not bringing in A-listers any time soon my friend, he can be a great piece of the puzzle and not have the added stress of being The Man since we have Mitchell. Tobias Harris is a pipe dream in a trade, we're better off throwing the kitchen sink at him in FA.

I was agreeing. It’s like... no guts no glory... I like him and he could be budget Harris. I’d want to know about his work habits and such.

Yeah, I dont see the Jazz doing that. We just dont chase FAs very often, nor has DL ever done it. But maybe this is the year that changes but I doubt it. FAs will be overpaid again this year and DL does not like to overpay. I think it is most likely we trade for a vet on a decent contract or one that we liked before and can get their bird rights.

Tony Jones has been adamant for a long time that the Jazz want to be players in 2019 free agency and believe they can be. Tony's typically very accurate in his coverage of the Jazz.

It seems pretty apparent DL thinksbhe can get something done.

We haven’t really tried in FA either because of lack of space or just preserving flexibility. We should at least get some meetings... I think there is a chance... not a good chance but not a complete moonshot.

Agreed. We may miss out on our top targets like Middleton or Harris but someone like Niko would likely be attainable.

Tony is always great about talking how aggressive we try to be then is also great about explaining why it was hard to get our targets when we strike out.

Favors and Rubio are a perfect match for Conley, and both are expiring. Could also put Casspi in, no problems. Doesn't this make sense for everyone?

I think expirings for Conley is fair given his injury concerns and age... they may not. Now if they can flip Rubio/Favs, in a three or four team deal, for some draft assets they might be inclined to do that.

I think they have to get salary flexibility and draft assets or young players to make a deal work on their end.

I'm iffy on Conley. I'd do a Conley deal 100 times before a kevin love deal doe.

This summer, there was all this talk about Paul George. Right when free agency opened, we were at Favors' door.

Tobias Harris is a top 3-5 free agent this summer. We have to trade for him to have a real chance.

Trade for a unrestricted FA right when he is about to be a top 3-5 FA this Summer? That wouldn't make much sense. Especially cause we have cap space...
