2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

No its not. The coach doesnt trade players. His job is to make his players better and win games, and a way to do that is to boost your player's confidence up.

I see no rumor or talk whatsoever that says NOLA is interested in trading Mirotic. It makes no sense to trade him especially since he has little value since he's coming off an injury and he's an expiring. NOLA is on record saying they want to add to their roster. They have been pretty average with Mirotic out.

NOLA will try to use picks and worse players (Moore, Johnson, Hill) rather than trade what they consider a good player for another good player.

The Jazz aren't going to make a move for Otto Porter or anyone else with a big contract after this season. They think they can sign Khris Middleton or someone like it and are going to wait to do so.

Once they strike out however and don't sign anyone and end up using the cap space to bring back Favors & Rubio, Dennis Lindsey should borderline be fired after it all goes down.

I think you're on the right path with that. They are eyeing that Milwaukee payroll, and will take either Middleton or Brogdon, whichever one the Bucks choose not to pay.

Windhorst said it on tv... nikos name was brought up with regard to jimmy butler too... obviously a pretty big upgrade.

I could see them doing Hill, Niko and a pick for OP jr. if wiz actually move him. Wiz could route Niko to a third team for seconds or salary relief.... not anything that is likely but it makes sense since Randle Niko AD can’t all share the floor and they are super shallow on the wing.

They can pay them both no problem doe... so then what?

Because of the Ricky - cap space dance - we will have to do to have space I think we will seriously investigate trade opportunities and if something decent comes up I could see us pulling the trigger. May not be a home run like signing Harris outright in FA but will provide certainty and allow us to do other things in FA.

You feel better about yourself? With your dumbass comment? Never said that was the plan, smart guy - I was just stating what I’ve witnessed on a personal level.
Are you ok? Just saying that the reason we are talking about guys like Griffin are because they are guys that might be available. Part of the reason they would be available is their injury history. The guys you like aren't available.

The Bucks were able to dump Dellie and Henson on the Cavs. They can easily keep both Middleton and Brogdon. The NBA is a place now where you don't let anybody go especially if they fit. Later on, you could trade them if you want. The Bucks let Jabari go so they could keep the guys like Brogdon and Middleton.

Brogdon and Middleton only leave if they want to leave. Unlikely as that is, it's even more unlikely that they pick Utah.

I mean almost anybody can be traded. However, the Butler situation doesn't apply at all anymore. That happened in the first couple weeks of the season when Niko was healthy. Now, he's not 100% and he could leave in a few months.

If I was NOLA, I would be looking to trade Randle. He isn't going to pick up that player option for next year and his numbers have been amazing this season. Trade high and keep the guy who spreads the floor for AD.

Thanks for the info and what you're saying makes complete sense.

Any guys more in our range we should be looking at? Anybody you see who has self control and the drive not to partake in the shenanigans?

Good question - I think about that pretty much every time I interact with one of them. I’m in LA, so most of the players I’ve met play for the Lakers/Clippers obviously, and there’s really only a couple from those two teams that come to mind. Kuzma, Lou Williams, Tobias Harris.

To be honest, it’s the foreign players that have impressed me the most with their focus and worker-like mentality- maybe it’s because they are just so appreciative of being in the NBA. He’s obviously not in our range - but I’m telling you - Porzingis is full on Utah Jazz. A class act. A healthy Porzingis would be a dream, and I have little doubt that we would take us over the top. Just think about what Quin could do with him. Wow.

Rudy
Porzingis
Ingles
DM
Rubio (or any other PG for that matter)

Huh... I'm just saying he's not untouchable... his name has come up a couple times this season in different scenarios... given the age and production of Randle I'm guessing they want to retain him whether he picks up the option or not. They want something they can build around AD... both guys could leave... NO is playing well with Randle AD arrangement right now... Niko might be more expendable and he still has some value.

I do think pelicans fit is a good one for dante. Though the combination between exum and gobert or favors is already really good and could become a great combination. Thats the best combination the jazz have atm. Dante to the bigs
