2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

I like the idea of trading for a stretch 4 and keeping Favors as a back up center if possible. We would then most likely have to trade either Rubio or Exum and I'd think Exum would be more valuable. A trade like Exum/Sefalosha/Draft picks?? for Tobias Harris would be perfect IMO. The $$ is basically even and it would definitely improve the Jazz.

Rubio / Neto
Mitchell / Korver
Ingles / Oneal
Harris / Crowder
Gobert / Favors

Not many teams would have that kind of depth at frontcourt and having a stretch 4 on both the 1st and 2nd unit would be nice.

I think the Conley suitors are:

- orlando
- Detroit
- San Antonio
- New Orleans
- Indiana
- Maybe Minny or Phoenix

I don’t see those teams pursuing him.

Indy is too damn good right now and doesn’t have the contracts to make it work. It would have to involve way too many players, and he also doesn’t fit their timeline imo.

I don’t see the Pistons being able to get the contracts to work (why would the Grizz want Drummond) or having enough solid assets to offer while still retaining some to have a complete enough roster to compete. Which is the clear objective if you’re acquiring Conley.

I don’t see the Spurs at all either. They’re not going to dump DD or Aldridge. Those guys are too important for them in win now mode. So I don’t see any contracts working here. Maybe more importantly, they love DW and I doubt they’d want to pull the reins from him as they’ve really started to click.

Maybe??? Conley and Caboclo for Hill, Moore, and Johnson and a 1st? I’m not even sure if the Grizz have an extra roster spot, the Pels have a 1st, or if that’s enough. IMO, the Grizz would want more and if I’m the Pels, I don’t give them more. That’s a tough spot for them with Davis. Maybe you do it and cross your fingers he sticks around. Mrotic would probably have to be involved. And maybe that’s a good thing for them.

I don’t see Orlando at all. Lose and try to get ping pong balls. Next year would be the better time to go after a vet pg to teach the young uns how to win imo. Same for Phoenix.

I doubt favors would be cool with that though

I think we need to go young or prime with a trade.

Harris
Winslow (if we have to take a bad contract)
Stanley Johnson
Bridges (if we have to take Batum)
Porter (this idea is waning with me though)

SA wants to win now... they could send back Gasol/Mills and a pick plus white or Walker. This may be pops last season.

Indy can send a first Collison/Evans/O quinn/Leaf

Pistons a first, Jackson, filler...

The issue with Conley's deal... is his deal... gonna take a few contracts to add up to that bohemoth.

This season matters to me too though.
If we can give up favors and a pick them I think we should do it. Would make us better this year imo, we would likely be losing favors anyway if we were to chase Tobias in the summer, and maybe Tobias loves it here and chooses us like Paul George did in okc

Oh so you guys are thinking that Faves and a 1st is all it would take? That's the disconnect cause that wouldn't be close.

You trade for Tobias for two reasons:
- You want to keep Rubio's bird rights and resign him
- You want the advantage of offering him a 5 year max

Since Mitch and Gobert are (obviously) off the table we are probably talking multiple 1sts. Don't think that's worth it for bird rights and an extra year.

If the Clippers essentially salary dumped their best player for a crappy 1st round pick, the NBA would definitely need to investigate tampering because that would mean somebody gave them a guarantee.
