2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

A lot of the stuff you are hearing is smoke and mirrors. He's going to Boston or LA.

So are you Woj, now? Are you in the war room? I mean sometimes the call on the field is the call on the field. I would want no part of the Laker's dysfunctional Junk. Give me picks and let me build my own destiny with players I control for 7 years. I think a lot of the "smoke" is from LA and Boston centered sports writers. There is a lot of wishcasting going on.

I wonder if we can somehow get Kuzma with all of this going on. Maybe offer Grayson and a 1st rounder to the Lakers who can add them to the package to the Pelicans who want picks. I'm not excited about Conley, and Porter would tie up a lot of cap room (sounds like he isn't available). Mirotic or Parker would be good gamble for a second rounder and filler.

I know people get upset when DL holds pat, but I'd rather stand pat than overpay for someone who won't get us over the hump.

That's been my train of thought lately too. If we could send Grayson and 2 1st rounders for Kuzma, I would do it. I would take Solomon Hill's contract off the Pelicans too.

How do you think these guys get sources?

They do it by putting out select information from agents/players/inner circle members.

For instance, Chris Haynes is very connected to Klutch Sports. There have been a lot of instances throughout his career when you can see that he is being mouthpiece for Rich Paul.

Woj is obviously connected to Boston a bit and has been helping Ainge get his message out as well.

It isn't wish casting, its how these guys do their jobs and create their sources.

I’m all for Conley ALMOST at whatever the cost (except 2 first round picks...but Rubio, exum, Allen, 1st round, 2nd round i'm for). I think it does two things. It shows DM that we believe in you now and want to get you the help you need. It is also a smart play to learn how to win over the next two years and maybe get to a WCF. Then when Conley’s deal is up, you resign him on the cheap or move on and then you are able to max Mitchell and resign Gobert. Then you will have cap space to get the next piece to get you into the Finals and maybe win it. Thats my plan.

I’ve mentioned elsewhere that he seems like a great rehabilitation project. His stock has got to be low right now. Definitely intriguing.

I’ve liked him since the draft. I think he has some playmaking ability... wasn’t room for that with Tall Rondo and Embiid in Philly. His shooting actually picked back up in Minny... just don’t see him as the ideal fit next to Towns.

Think he’d work well here and Quin could unlock some of that playmaking.

They want a pick and a player... k our first and tony Bradley (he is a player... they need to be more specific)

If we could get Conley and Saric I’d be super stoked. Can we send Exum somewhere for a pick? It really isn’t possible I suppose, but getting Saric would mean we’d still have space this offseason.

Ben Dowsett podcast has a Memphis beat writer guy on it.

They both think Utah has the lead on Conley. Detroit/Memphis has died down some.

Favors most likely not included in any Conley trade. Exum possibly.

Think Conley makes the WCF possible for Utah we’re as right now the 2nd round is our ceiling.

If we get Conley and keep Exum and Favors I'll be thrilled.

And it sounds like we've made our final offer and neither of them is included.

So it either happens or it doesn't, looks like Detroit and Utah have set the market for him. We'll see who blinks first.

It’s all posturing... NO knows LA will throw the mega offer but LA was trying to get them to bite now. You can tell which messages come from which camps.

The thing I laugh about is the 4 first round picks is seen as crazy... NO is asking for ten dimes to make up for the dollar they are giving up... it’s fair imo. Collusion, Lakers premium, GTFO Lakers fans... they are asking for a fair price to swap your middling assets for a super duper star. If they had developed those guys maybe they wouldn’t be in this place right now.

Sataronsky or whatever isn't being traded, he's one of the few good young players WA has. Plus they won't make a big move because that's their MO.

My guess is AD isn't traded to LA unless Kawhi doesn't resign in Toronto. If PG and Kawhi show that trading for a star that's rumored to go to LA is actually a better way to get and keep them, then of course they send him to Boston if they include Tatum. LA's deal will still be available on draft day.

Really hoping for a responsible Conley deal.

I'd definitely rather have Saric over Mirotic, I'd toss in any combo of our pick, non Favors expirings, and non essential pieces like Thabo, Allen, maybe O'Neale.

I'd give my left walnut for Kuzma.

I think we are being smart and not overpaying here... he’s a flawed good asset with a very limited market. So here is our price take it or leave it.

If they are dumb enough to just keep him then his value likely decreases. We could also move on to different deals. Good luck.

Tomas is a good FA target if we move on from Ricky. They will be hard pressed to keep him unless they move other salary.

Thank god we aren’t the Wiz.
