2020 NBA trade deadline discussion

still trying to convince people that players A, B and C who are either out of the league right now or will be out of the league comes next season will serve as an "upgrade" over Bradley lol

Just so I’m clear... when you say you think he can do that every night... you want him to get 33 points in approximately 16 minutes a game? Tia
Yeah, I mean 16 is probably all he gets. Gotta keep Rudy out there. Pretty unrealistic to expect him to come in and drop 50 in 25 minutes every night.

Ed Davis for Grizz's Josh Jackson. Grizz is actually a team under the radar for being super thin on their front court. And Ed would add the much needed depth and vet experience to help them make their final playoff push. Grizz are not in any kind of championship timeline or financial restraint so they probably wouldn't mind paying that one more year for a fan familiar player who had spent a good year with them previously.

And for us worst case scenario we send Josh Jackson to the stars to let him finish the last year of his contract. So we have the room cleared to make moves in the summer. Or even better, if Quin can set Jackson's head straight, he might be useful given the kid is clearly talented.

Given Dennis Lindsey's history I wouldn't be surprised if we ended up making a move for one of the guys he tried to get as a free agent this summer:

Thaddeus Young or
Jamychael Green (the Clippers would be crazy to send him our way)

As I recall both had meeting scheduled with Utah, but cancelled them after the Bogdanovic signing. And I'm still curious about Luc Mbah A Moute. He seems like a two-way player who would be an ideal fit for Snyder's system.

lot of stuff people been saying about josh jackson now could be used to describe mudiay few years ago. now mudiay's completely transformed himself into a serviceable backup in this league and likely will be able to stick around for many more years to come.

if we can put jackson under the same system and teach him how to play winning basketball, we might finally have someone who we could put on players like ingram to truly bother them, instead of watching them going off and dropping 40+ pts on us.

https://gleague.nba.com/player/josh-jackson/

currently averaging 1.4 stls and 1.4 blks in G-league

if we can do this one year experiment of mudiay, we can probably do the same with jackson. doesn't hurt. worst case scenario we still got rid of Ed's contract.

There is a significant difference between Mudiay and Jackson tho. Mudiay chose to come here because he wanted to learn and be a better player. He had his head right. All signs point to Jackson being a head case.

@NUMBERICA I saw someone suggesting on Twitter discussing a hypothetical trade of Clarkson + a 1st for Iggy. Someone said we can't trade a 1st as you've been saying as well. He replied that since we already owe Memphis one we can owe them two. Sounded like hogwash (and I don't like the trade anyway) but I was curious about what the actual truth was on this.

You could but it requires dripping all conditions on the pick we owed. For instance, could say they get our pick this year unprotected, then got our 2022 pick, as well.

I think Iggy is getting extremely overrated across the league at this point. He’s a 36 year old who hasn’t played in a year.

I also think we retain JC after this season... I actually think he comes back for something slightly less than MLE... Iggy is headed for retirement or GS.

I don’t hate the thought process here and Jackson has seemed to be getting his mindset in a better place... Phoenix is a ****** place to start your career since the organization is a mess, but Jazz don’t generally take on these kinds of projects. Mudiay was never lazy or had character concerns... quite the opposite... Denver team let him go but talked him up. Based on his attitude here I think it can be assumed he’s a guy most organizations liked. Jackson’s rap sheet over the last 12 months is a.... concerning.
