2020 Presidential election

You’re onto something. Plan to see just that. I can guarantee you the campaign has told Kamala to smile her *** off for the same reason. They’re trying to woo with affect.

Im in California so I’ve been exposed to lots of Kamala. I’ve never seen her smile like this before. I’m a little unnerved by it, tbh.

They're trying to soften her. There's a long history here of a "tough" woman politician being seen as a "bitch."

What are your thoughts on Kamala? Take out the fact she is a minority women making her beyond reproach for some, but what are your thoughts on her record, her policies, her platform, etc ....

For example, talked to a woman today who really likes her but all she could point out is apparently Kamala supports planned parenthood, which is good, but that's about all she could give me as to why she liked her.

My guess is both himself and Kamala will be the 'light' as they were to put it. Aggressive on how dangerous this president is, but also a beacon to something better.

I really don't think the pond of undecideds is very deep - it's really a matter of who gets out to vote. I'm filling out my mail-in ballot and dropping it off at the city hall box Day 1 - no room for messing around this year tossing it on the counter, leaving it in a pile, etc. Straight to a secure location you go.

Just because she has Afro-Caribbean and Indian roots doesn’t mean she’s more than one woman.

Gaffes!!!

She's been very Clintonesque in the policies and her record, from what I can tell I would have liked someone more progressive.

OTOH, as The Reverend Crip Dyke puts it, that's who she had to be to be elected when she was:

Appreciate it. Like I said I've heard almost nothing positive about her other than her race and sex, next to nothing about her policies. I'm open to the idea of her not being the worst but am having trouble finding anything that doesn't focus on her being a minority woman, which is not important to me.

Also, I keep getting an error when I try to read the article you linked so hopefully I'll be able to access it at some point.

Lol, the article finally opened. And it basically says, "Sure, she's been pretty terrible, but as a woman of color things are harder for her so you can't really blame her. Plus she's a woman and that's very important, oh yeah, she's also a person of color and that is also super vital. So disregard the fact she's been awful because she's a woman of color and that's what's really important."

The closing paragraph is great

"You may hate it. I don’t like it, but the USA is so ****ed up that electing this Black/Indian Californian prosecutor who defended bad crime labs and opposed basic health care is actually a really, really, really good ****ing thing for the country. Even I’m not white enough to miss that."

I guess the main point is "She's a sleazy awful terrible disgusting politician but at least she's a woman of color so we'll take what we can get." Is that the main point or am I missing something?

His followers feel being a miserable and rotten SOB is a sign of strength!

It should be noted that the converse of this is also very true of Trump, and apparently many of his followers. A man who shows compassion, a man who cares about other human beings, and shows these qualities, is regarded as weak. For Trump, to show compassion or concern for others is a sign of great weakness. If you listen to Trump, on the few occasions when he is making an effort to display these emotions, he always speaks in a stilted and monotone style. Compassion, caring for other human beings, is foreign to Trump. It will never be something that comes naturally. Precisely because he regards such emotions as signs of a weak man. This attitude, IMO, is itself a serious character defect.
