2020 Presidential election

It’s weird to me that some people on here are advocating for an “outsider” or someone with “new blood” to be elected. What the hell was the 2016 election? Haven’t the last 4 years proven that maybe our president should know something about the government whom he/she seeks to lead?

With 177,000 dead now and 200,000+ dead in a few weeks, I hope our next president actually knows how government works. I want a calm, steady, and competent hand, not a gamble. We tried the gamble in 2016. It clearly hasn’t worked out.

if people like Yang are serious about politics, what’s wrong with starting off at local politics? Had we done that with Trump, we would’ve found out much earlier how incompetent he was. If Gbbard is so great, why not run for senator? Without the use of google, can any pro Tulsi types tell me 3 pieces of legislation she’s sponsored that has passed the House?

I'll spell it out for you. An outsider that has shown intelligence, good decision making, morals ... etc ..... There are a few of them out there. Trump was an outsider but he was none of those positive things.

Walked my dog last night and saw more than a few Trump signs with the slogan, "Keep America Great" despite the fact America is far worse off now than when they adopted the "Make America Great Again" slogan. The lack of self awareness is amazing.

If folks like Yang want to be president, show intelligence and good decision making in government. Begin at the local level and work your way up. I think electing an “outsider”, this mythical “Mr Smith goes to Washington” actually hinders our democracy. Why? Because it doesn’t exist. The best presidents of our time haven’t been outsiders. Some of our worst have been. There’s something to be said about expertise. There’s something to be said about relationships, your party, and knowing how to pass legislation.

We’ve seen 4 years of an “outsider.” Serious people want a competent leadership now.

Now, for your 2nd paragraph. I don't completely disagree, BUT I'm trying to think of a career politician who currently is not a despicable scum bag because apparently that is what it takes to rise through the ranks of politics on both the right and left. So yeah, I would LOVE for someone with some knowledge and a history of being a good person and a good leader to come through but I can't think of anyone that fits that bill. Can you?
