If it’s in the available laws, you shouldn’t feel bad about using loopholes.
Yes. That’s clearly a manipulation of the rules and exploitation of a system not intended for them. The loophole should be closed immediately and if it continues, they should be prosecuted. How about those wealthy parents who sign their children over to a poorer friend or family member so that their kids can get financial assistance from government programs that were created for poor kids who really need the help?
Do you think they should feel bad?
Poor people have historically been required to serve. Having means usually provides you more opportunities to avoid it.
I don’t see how it’s any different from the wealthy and politically connected getting into colleges that they have no business qualifying for. It’s been that way always.
Donald Trump, Mitt Romney, Bill Clinton, Joe Biden all got deferments to avoid being drafted. Millions of wealthy or connected men would do just about whatever they could to avoid going to Vietnam. College, medical and family reasons were the most common ways to avoid being drafted.
I learned a lot about American politics when i watched Arnold Schwarzenegger become Governor of California (obviously a highly Democratic state) in a landslide. Fame, persona, popularity, image, likability play a huge role in presidential politics. Love him or hate him, Trump grabs attention endlessly. And unless he does something horribly wrong (as opposed to just being crass, controversial and confrontational on twitter), he's very likely to get re-elected, imo. The vast majority of Republicans are behind him.
Immigrants don't get welfare nearly as much as citizens do. They come here to work, and they work.
I lived in California at the time. Schwarzenegger was a terrible Governor. And he was only really made possible because Grey Davis was also a complete disaster.I learned a lot about American politics when i watched Arnold Schwarzenegger become Governor of California (obviously a highly Democratic state) in a landslide.
