What's new

2020 Presidential election

My advise to Biden for the next debate.
  1. Every time trump interrupts, completely stop speaking and let Trump talk until he stops, writing down each Trump accusation
  2. After Trump stops, wait 1-2 seconds, then turn to the moderator and respectfully ask for additional time to speak uninterrupted.
  3. After getting permission, thank the moderator and then proceed with what he is saying, ignoring what Trump just said.
  4. Each time Trump interrupts, go back to #1 and repeat the cycle
  5. After completing the answer, go back to your notes and succinctly refute each trump accusation until they are exhausted. This can be as simple as "He said X, that is a lie"
  6. Keep it 100% respectful and dignified.
  7. Don't stoop to Trump's level.
  8. People are sick of Trump's childishness, let him further expose himself as a child.

Bill Kristol, Charlie Sykes, and Michael Steele are anti Trump. Amanda carpenter, Jennifer Rubin, and Anne Applebaum are all conservatives I respect who are definitely anti Trump.

And let’s not forget George Will, at the intellectual center of American conservatism for decades.

This works in theory but then Trump interrupts continually. Would also require nimble thinking and not platitude filled canned answers. Debates are dumb. In lieu of debates I'd prefer each candidate talk for 60-90 minutes about key issues and outline their plans. Make it live and primetime and allow a moderator to ask open ended questions. Maybe allow 3-4 key questions from the other candidate that are unknown until the debate... force the moderator to ask follow ups or details. This head to head **** is loudest voice in the room gets to talk and quickly falls into childish name calling.

I would put a Biden yard sign in my front flowerbed if he casually strolled over and backhanded the **** out of Donald.

Imagine being such a stupid and broken person that you think making videos like these actually makes you look good:

Covid was a blessing from god? Hmmm

I only listened to about 15 minutes of the VP debate. It's all so dumb. The moderator would ask them each a question about the issue with Trump and Bidens age. Pence just talks about the swine flu from 2009 and harris just talks about her upbringing and her accomplishments.

Neither even attempted at all to answer the question that was asked.

I couldn't take it and had to turn it off.

The part I did listen to i thought pence was winning though. He sure is well spoken and articulate. If I knew nothing of either candidate or which party they were from or anything about trump or Biden etc and these two were running for potus then pence would get my vote based off the little I heard.

I only listened to about 15 minutes myself, just a retread of everything. You could practically answer the questions the candidates would give before they opened their mouths. Harris' smiling on some of these issues a little too frequent. I tend not to trust people like that. To quote you some Shakespeare:
One may smile, and smile, and be a villain

I heard a little on the radio on the way home. Pence blaming Biden for someone being killed because he thinks they didn't go in fast enough, as if Obama wasn't listening to his military commanders.

Also, Pence talking over time and insisting on getting more time, while Harris respected the rules of the debate. Very symbolic.

I missed it so thanks for your thoughts. To be honest Pence as president worries me more than Trump.

I like how both Pence and Donald have brought up “swine flu” and compared it to covid and neither moderator has fact checked that comparison. Around 12,000 died from it and over 200,000 have died from covid.

I also like how both Pence and Donald keep bragging about some health care reform bill, as if they haven’t had 4 years already. Other than the Q morons, who actually thinks Donald has a health care plan?

Finally, I don’t know what the point of moderators are in these debates. Candidates aren’t answering questions and Republicans treat the moderator as a doormat. Pence talking over Harris and Page tonight is surely going to win over the suburban women that they desperately need for re-election... so why even have moderators? What purpose do they serve?
