2021 NBA Draft Preview (new thread)

There is a cap management planning case to be made for staying at #30 to make the pick. I think you can only offer a two year deal to second round guys unless you use an MLE to sign them to a longer deal. While a guaranteed contract isn't always ideal it is super small at #30 and you'd had to hit on a pick and then lose two years of cheap production. Just buy a late second and only move off of #30 if the deal is awesome or if there isn't a guy you love that falls.
Yep. A good get at #30 is about the best possible financial situation you can find.

The draft history at #30 is actually surprisingly good.

The only one I know off the top of my head is Jimmy Butler, for whom I was kind of obsessed with that draft.
Not bad really. A couple of names stick out before the last few years.

Jaden Springer is the draft nerd darling this year. I see it. He has great numerical indicators. Unfortunately he won't make it to #30 either.

I wonder what other center we could have gotten with #33.
theoretically you could have turned 23 into 27, 33, and 38. You could have also just taken Bane, McDaniels, or Tillman (since he was more ready to contribute you do something else with the MLE) at #27.

I care less that we didn't extract the value from the picks and more about the fact we targeted Udoka. Then targeted Favs in FA... just some dumb ****.

In any case, Udoka could've been picked at #38. I probably still wouldn't have, but that would've been fine.

I was watching the draft with a friend, and his eyes were pretty wide and fixed on me after the pick came in cuz I immediately launched into how absolutely ****ing terrible it was for like 15 minutes without a break. It was extreme and probably really ****ing funny.
