2021 NBA Draft Preview (new thread)

Westbrook as a wildcard 3rd option is better than relying on him as a 2nd option. So there's that. Lakers need shooting though. They were one of the worst shooting teams in the league last year.

On top of adding a chucker who can't shoot and is getting worse every single year (paired with his declining athleticism which most of the good attributes of his game are based on), the Lakers are trading two of their better/more useful spacers for him. This is an absolutely monster gamble by them.

Remember when Lebron showed up and those geniuses were like "yeah, we're not gonna do this stupid Lebron + shooters thing that has always worked at an elite level, we're going to surround him with people that take the ball out of his hands and/or don't space the floor and it's going to DOMINATE"? Then Lebron had his first losing season in 15 years? Yeah, glad they learned apparently nothing from that.
They also were on the verge of landing Hield and rumors were Derozan might have gone there somehow... Derozan would scare me more with them than Westbrook.

The second I saw this trade and realized they would need to fill 70% of their roster with min guys, i said "well, one of those spots will be Blake....."

Blake was a buy-out last season. Not sure he plays for the minimum this season. And if he did, why not stay in Brooklyn?

Really? That's not what I been hearing.

Same, but Derozan also scares me less than Hield because he's been inefficient and his game is predicated on being a primary ball handler (which would take the ball out of the hands of the GOAT playmaker).

Hield would be a perfect fit. The Lakers are clowns. Then again, maybe Lebron in his infinite wisdom cannot resist the allure of OMG SUPERTEAM and is steering this.

My prediction is the Jazz use Joe and 30 to move up in the draft.
You may be right, but I will say again, this would be an eternal curse on the Jazz and they would deserve it.

(again, unless Joe is involved in all of this)

Yall think LeBron is going to dominate forever and that's just not possible. With RW, they can rest LBJ more if AD is healthy. The Lakers can win games with those two.

Sure certain moments in games will be awkward, but the Lakers can rest before the playoffs. That's scary.

Westbrook is fine as heliocentric force that dictates everything about the offense. He is going to be dynamite with AD when LeBron is off the court, no doubt about it. But he is about as bad as it gets when LeBron and AD are trying to run pick and rolls and establish position inside.

Everytime there is a Joe trade mention Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You" starts playing in my head.

According to Checkets, the Jazz may have a deal on the table to trade out of the draft, but it will depend on who is on the board still. Someone worthwhile might be on the board. So TJ is saying trading out isn't just about saving money. It's about improving the roster.
