I will decide best year when the time comes. I don’t want to be stuck with what I choose when drafting. I like to keep my options open.

Plus if it pisses you off it is just icing on the cake.

I still don't understand why their "best year" even matters. We know the players they were. If somebody picks Magic Johnson from a year different than the one where he lined up a center, are we not still going to assume he has the positional flexibility to play anywhere?

That part of it just seems silly to me.

Because neither players nor the game are static. Often there is a significant trade-off in athleticism and shooting ability as the years go by. This is especially true of players drafted in the 80’s and who peaked in the mid-90’s. Their games changed a lot.

This trade off between athleticism (often seen in defense) and shooting changes a lot about how a team would play or be defended.

This and just because someone became a decent three-point shooter later in his career doesn’t mean he was always one. There is one guy who hasn’t been drafted yet who did this exact thing but other parts of his game weren’t there such as scoring ability and playmaking as he got older.
