2023 NBA Draft Megathread

Not really. i mean 3-5 shots a game according to your data, and no one makes 100% of those shots right?, so lets say they shoot 50% on those 3-5 shots so they make like 2 of them which equals 4 points per game. Then lets say you are a poor mid range shooter (cam) but you still take 3-5 mid range shots. Since you aren't as good at them you only make 1 of them for 2 points per game.

Im just not seeing that as a huge deal according to the data you provided. Would what I typed be wrong?

Come on dude. Every elite scorer in the league is scoring at minimum 6-8 PPG from mid-range. Having that in your repertoire opens up your game in many other ways.

Just want to point out 20 PPG is the new 15 PPG.
I would be interested on the data with that. I think its obvious teams are scoring more but if feels like its because more players on each team are scoring more but not because individuals are scoring a higher amount.
Like i think jordan averaged like 36 or 37 points per game and quite a few others back then averaged over 30. Averaging over 30 seems to happen less often in todays game to me but there are less ball hogs.

Also, he is 18 years old and being compared to all stars in the nba lol. Im not sure that every all star in the nba was a great mid range shooter in college but if i had to guess i would say not all of them were and some might have even improved as they aged.

There you go being facetious again. The problem is he’s not a very good three-point shooter or mid-range shooter. The way you and others talk about him is why we are having this conversation to begin with.

43 players averaged 20 PPG this season compared to 19 players just 10 years ago.

There is a total of 6 more possessions per game for each team from 10 years ago as well.

For an idea of OTE competition. Cameron Boozer (who was 15 at the time) put 28 and 20 on the YNG Dreamerz (the team the Thompson's played in the OTE final) and Boozer's high school team blew them out. they were up by 25 at one time - again this is the best or at least second best team in the league. Amen had 11, 7 and 5 on 3-8 FGs and 1-6 3pt in the 2nd title game against that same team - he was 20 at the time. I get that Cam Boozer is the second best prospect his age, but he was 15. The Thompson's are 20. Amen averaged 16 and 6. Boozer played one game at age 15, his hs team dominated them and he had 28 and 20. that league is straight trash and Amen is out there getting 16 and 6 per night being older than everybody else on the floor.

Jayden Quaintance (27th ranked 15 year old) tore it up in that league.

They were 19 when they played that game. I get that it doesnt change your point all that much, but you should get the ages right if you are trying to make a point.

It looks like Amen and Ausar were in the 20-25 range of their high school recruiting class. Is that accurate?

wrong. they were 20. january birthdays, game played in april.
Im referencing when the Boozer game was played. Everyone gets older at the same pace, so why do you mention Boozer's age when the game was played but the Twins at a later date?

I'm probably not wording that clearly, but if the Boozer game was played in October, the age of everyone was relative to October. Saying the Twins played the same team 5 months later when they turned 20 and they didnt play as well (maybe because one was a damn exhibition game and the other was a playoff game and if you actually watched OTE you would know there was a dramatic quality difference in the Champion games vs the regular season games, and I'm sure that was probably double for an exhibition game) doesnt really make sense because the team they played also aged 5 more months.

So you are purposefully loading the context of the situation to make the Twins/OTE look as bad as possible.
