2023 NBA Draft Megathread

Players went 4/20 from the field against Jarace in isolation… pretty impressive.
it's impressive but the sample is so small. it's what makes evaluating OADs so incredibly hard and one of the reasons the draft is such a crapshoot.

when you're talking 20 total FGAs, it could just be dudes missed shots. or the guys challenging him in isolation just happened to not be very good. or myriad other factors besides Jarace locking people down. and i'm a fan of walker, so i'm not trying to downplay him in any way - just trying to be consistent as it relates to sample size.

I'm as stat obsessed as anyone (it's literally my job but I'm a slacker) and I think breaking up into synergy play types etc. can be useful....but I think we need to remember that the sample sizes for basic numbers are already small and get smaller each time you cut the criteria. Sometimes when you're pinning down a certain criteria, something like spot up shooting in half court settings, you might actually be talking about 15-20 shots lol.

I get it… it’s hard because with freshman all the sample sizes are going to be small.

I can't wait for this to be over so we can talk about how excited we are to watch x,y,z in summer league.
After draft...
"I initially hated y but you all have talked me into liking him and I can't wait to see him in a jazz jersey"

A few years later...
"Trade y! Trade y!"

Nets trying to trade into the middle of the 1st with both of their picks. Depending on how the board is shaping up I could be into that.

Would be insanity on the Jazz's part. I think teams are realizing this draft is about 16-ish players or so deep and are trying to jump into that range.

I’d prolly pass unless we can flip one of the picks in the 20s for a future pick. Prolly a bit too complicated but wonder if you could send 16 for 21/21 then send one of those picks with a future pick for the #10… kinda making change with 16 to break a $100 type of thing.
