2023 NBA Draft Megathread

Yeah, that was probably my worst miss. Him or Hezonja in 2015. Thanks for bringing it up. That was 10 years ago though. I've got a long list of wins since then.
With Hezonja I remember I was one of the few who couldn't see his appeal at all, but most/many on Jazzfanz were singing his praises. I thought he was undersized for the position (SF), and didn't think his physicality & amazing finishes at the rim in Europe would translate to the NBA.

I thought he had more natural shooting talent than Gordon Hayward did, but it turned out he couldn't dribble the ball and he was soft on defense. He was a European role player who just didn't fit in the NBA.

Well all got it wrong and learn from it sometimes.

My biggest regret is us passing on Giannis cos we thought we needed a PG and we were burnt so badly by AK47's lack of shooting, that we wouldn't take a wing who couldn't shoot no matter what..

I think most people saw Giannis as a nice upside swing. I don't think anyone saw him growing into a 7-ft/240-lb superfreak.

Hey, I appreciate what FM brings to the board. All of us have had our misses in player projection, God knows, but I really like how FM takes the effort to explain his reasoning, often in very detailed posts. I won't always agree, but at least with him I know where he's coming from and what he's prioritizing.

Bleinburgh

Yeah, a 6'10" guy with handles and shooting. He was a prospect starting in the late 30s of the 2nd round. He's been fine in Europe. He could have played in the NBA as well as most of those 2nd-rd prospects. That's not really a miss.

I also called out BJ Boston in the 2nd round of that draft as an alternative to Miye Oni. One is playing the league. The other isn't.

I would take Filipowski with our earliest pick but not sure if we’d take a big with our first pick (Wemby of course we would). I don’t think he will make it to our second pick unfortunately. I’m a BPA and figure it out later kind of guy.

You really think he'll be gone by our 2nd pick? All the mock drafts I've seen have him going in the 20's, some in the late 20's.
