2023 NBA Draft Megathread

Watch few games of Victor recently. Jesus Christ this kids is so skinny. He is so talented probably never have a kid like this since Lebron but he need at least 10kg of muscles or he will get destroy after 10 games...
This is the big risk. At his height and light frame injuries are likely going to be a very real problem.

This is a great video about the issue. Love me some jxmyhighroller.

Would you consider trading Walker Kessler if the Jazz got Wemby?

Let's say the Jazz get the 1st overall pick and Dallas moves up to 4th. Trade Walker, Sexton, and the Wolves pick for 4 and get Amen Thompson.

In general I would be wary of just using 3PT% to project if a player is going to be a good shooter or not. There are tons of players who shot mid to low thirties in college from 3 who are shooting high thirties to low forties now. The sample size is also extremely small in college especially if it’s just one season. One great week can shift their 3PT% dramatically and same with one bad week.

He has such a Bane like stroke coming off those screens but none of the physicality or intensity that makes Bane such a damn good player. I’d feel better taking Hawkins with perhaps the last pick we have but I gotta think that with our first two, there will be better prospects available. Prospects that are taller, more athletic, and can do more.
intensity? Hawkins is one of the more "intense" guys i've seen this season. not sure how one measures intensity, but based on what i've seen i'd say it's definitely a strength of his. i'd also guess you're underrating his athleticism and his ability to "do more" - he wasn't asked to handle the ball a lot or make plays on that UConn team - he played a specific role that helped them win. but i've watched him upwards of 20 times and i've seen enough to say he has plenty of skills he will be able to show off at the next level with increased opportunities and spacing. he is very skinny and ideally he'd be two or three inches taller, so some of your criticisms have merit, but if he were 6'8 and strong and still shot like he does, he'd be a top 5 lock - you'd basically be talking about Glen Rice.

Aren't you big on not playing Wemby at the 5? Seems pretty important to keep Kessler in that case. That is also way too much to give up for #4.

I love glen rice. One of my all time favorites

It feels like Eddie is like someone told chat gpt to troll the Jazz board but then chat gpt got a weird virus… just a lot of words and none of it seems to work.

I think I would rather have Kessler, Wemby and Lauri front line and use later picks to fill the other roles

This is JazzFanz so I'm sure people will hate this take, but Scoot reminds me a lot of a slightly taller and stronger version of Kevin Johnson who played so great for the Suns. Super fast, very athletic, aggressive, great court vision, impressive finisher on drives despite size, and not a great outside shooter at first but was such a hard worker that he grew that part of his game. He also always seemed to have his better games against the top competition like Stockton.

That's not that much.

And yeah, I think overall you want a spot starter at the 5 for Wemby, but I'm not sure you want a non floor spacer next to him like Walker.

More just a way to exploit Dallas to get another HOF level talented player

I guess you don’t subscribe to the theory that Kessler would be top 5 in a redraft?

I’d hesitate giving him up for #4 straight up, since I know already that he’s a good NBA player.

No, he is definitely top 5 in a re-draft. Doesnt mean his value is that of Amen Thompson's. It's a risk but you got to risk it for the biscuit.
