2023 NBA Draft Megathread

The amount of gymnastics that are done to discredit the Twins is hilarious.

You can’t be serious. They’re 20-year olds playing against worse competition than college players and the best comeback you had was a game against the Creighton alumni team.

Not as hilarious as the gymnastics they've done to avoid playing real competition.
"Hello braintrust of the Overtime Elite, people are saying that the level of competition here is trash. What can we do to prove that it isn't?

Braintrust: "Buckle up for the best idea you've heard since the idea of a league of 16-20 year olds: we have our best players go up against the Creighton alumni in a game with no stakes."

Foster went off in the game. 10 points. Dude sounds legit.
He averaged 19-4-4 in the G-League on 50% shooting. He's played in the Euroleaugue. He averaged 20-4-4 his senior year at Creighton. This is a fairly high level international player. The Omaha team (it's not just Creighton alumni) had a lot of pro players on the team.

It's ok if you have no basketball knowledge outside of the NBA, but I have no idea why yall are choosing to be purposefully ignorant.

The game is a tournament for 2 million dollars prize money.....

Why choose ignorance?

They also went on a European tour where they played teams like Bega-Max, a forgein team who has had several players drafted and have current 2023 draft prospect Nikola Durisic playing for them.

Your knowledge of an obsolete nobody isn’t the flex you think it is.

Tbf, the Creighton alumni getting together for a fun tournament is still better competition than the glorified AAU tournament that is OTE.

The problem I have with it is that some people seem to think they dominated that TBT game lol.
They played well. Ausuar had a lot of turnovers but it was them showing their freakish athletic gifts and talents off against professional basketball players.

Oh, okay. That settles all the other criticisms (that this is basically entirely untranslatable to serious basketball and has no basis for comparison)? You're right, I should come correct with serious takes, such as parading the Creighton Alumni as the gold standard of competition.

Flexing being ignorant is never good. I'm sorry you just started watching basketball last year I guess, because you're someone who proports to follow the draft but cant even remember one of the top college players from 2017 and would rather choose to spread stupidity than do simple google searches.

Even if you like the Twins, to deny that the competition is suspect is totally irrational. Somehow we're supposed to think that one single game in TBT just erases those concerns? Even if it was one game against an actual NBA team that's just one game. It doesn't mean they will bust, but the reality is they aren't proven.

If this game is so important, it should raise more question marks because they made a combined zero jumpshots and had the same amount of turnovers as FGs. A single TBT game being some kind of trump card is laughable to begin with, but why are we pretending like this was some legendary performance to end all doubts. They showed some stuff for sure, but I don't think anyone has really questioned their athleticism. They did not play bad, but they did the things we all know they can do.

I think you're just be willfully ignorant.

It's a high level of competition single elimination game against groups of players (not all Creighton players). They are adults in their prime who have overseas experience. These are players who are largely better and more experienced than the level of play you will get at the college level . College this past year showed us how important upperclassmen 5th/6th year senior transfers are. They arent the most talented players, but when you're 27 years old and have played a handful of years professionally at the high European level that is impressive.

If you give so much of a **** about OTE not being a good enough league to get a full picture of their ability, you should be excited to view them in different context against a different variety of competition. You aren't. You just want to **** on something that you arent able to understand because it's not presented to you in the most digestible way.
