2023 NBA Draft Megathread

Are you a fan of the team he played for?
Nope! But I do know what NBA GMs want and desire and I believe Taylor Hendricks offers what their looking for. This may be another hot take but I think the point guard position is going the way of the running back position in the NFL. Teams don't value it much anymore. It's all about size and playmaking wings. So yes I have Hendricks rated over Scoot. Taylor Hendricks can be such a mismatch nightmare at the NBA level. Offensively or defensively. You don't need a traditional point guard in today's NBA. You need size, athleticism, shooting, and defensive switching. All things Taylor Hendricks brings to the table. In 5 years I bet Taylor Hendricks will be a max money contract player and one of the most in demand free agents if he makes it to free agency.

YOur hot take is that hendricks is better than scoot. Im not sure many scouts will say that, but i will say this. If im danny ainge and my only choice was Scoot or hendricks i choose hendricks. I dont like point guards that cant shoot threes. Simple as that. Now i love hendricks but i dont see any way he goes 3 or 4 in this draft.

Dribbling and passing are still important parts of the game.

Walker - 34.7% on 2.8 attempts per game

Hendricks - 39.4% on 4.6 attempts per game
It’s always assumed poor shooters will improve… it does not always happen. And I was messing with Cy… I think Walkers defense and passing are better but I’m not sure it will matter if you have to play him with a traditional non shooting center and he doesn’t shoot it really well. It’s kind of a toss up depending on what else you have… like Indiana would be an awesome spot for Walker… Taylor works too.

For us I would prefer the shooter.

I do agree with you on midget Scoot Henderson. I'm not taking a midget pg who can't shoot even if he looks the part. I actually think he might have the biggest drop of anyone projected in the top 10.
Outside of Wemby and Brandon Miller who is certain to go ahead of Hendricks?

Cam Whitmore? Maybe, I love Whitmore but he's 2 inches shorter and brings a lot of the same qualities except he can self create. I think Whitmore will be a stud. My next favorite prospect after Hendricks.

Amen Thompson? Yes he is superior athletically but dude couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat. He does have positional length though but is that enough?

Jarace Walker? Similar to Hendricks except built like a tank. Not as good of a shooter though. Depends what you value.

Scoot Henderson? Yeah let's draft a midget pg who can't shoot. No thanks

Ausar Thompson? Does he bring any positional advantages that are better than what Hendricks brings? I don't think so

When you break it down I really believe Taylor Hendricks can be a top 4 pick come draft night. Outside of Wemby, Brandon Miller and maybe Cam Whitmore I could see Hendricks going above everyone else. Maybe I'm wrong. We'll see eventually

Trade 9 and the fools gold laker pick for him then.

I'm curious, does the Taylor Hendricks fan club think that he will develop some self creation and play making, or just that it isn't important?

In my opinion these things severely limit his upside. Who is the top player in the NBA right now that can't self create or play make? I don't think you are a top 25 player in the NBA if you can't do any of that.

He finishes poorly at the rim. I think he avoids because he is super light. Add some meat and his upsides increases.

During lunch hour for ten minutes every day until draft I conduct my magic chant in a Utah Jazz hoodie in candle light.

Hendricks, GG, Bilal... Hendrix, GG, Bylale....Hennndrixx, GeeGee, Bielale.....Heeeendddrickxxxx, GeeeeaGeeee, Beyelal of Newt!!!!!!!!! One Wemby to rule them all!!!
