2023 NBA Draft Megathread

I picture him spending most of his time in the G-League next year.
I would want him with the varsity team early. I think you can survive with one wing taking 12-15 minutes a night for dev purposes. Maybe he bounces back and forth a little but there is no need for us to bring a wing guy along slowly imo.

Interesting. Basically what I guessed yesterday but the inclusion of George is an interesting note. If we still had DL I'd call Keyonte a lock.

Of all the players in this draft, Keyonte is probably the most likely to drill 28-ft 3s off the bounce. There's value in that. He can self-create at three levels. At the end of the day, it's a game about getting buckets, and Keyonte can create looks.

He definitely passes the eye test with his shooting. I've been kind of off on him, but he's one of those guys like MaX Lewis were I'll rewatch his stuff and be like oh yeah, this is why some people love his upside.

Its more about my personal belief in the guys in that range. I don't think George is a pg, I don't think JHS is good. After Bufkin I'm not a big fan of the pgs. Miller isn't a wing but I love him... so if Bilal isn't there I think Miller has a chance to be. I'd settle in on Hawkins if they all got snatched up. I'd have Cason, Black, Bufkin all a tier above the other pg prospects... my first choice is take a falling wing. I might take Walker as trade bait and move back to get the guard I want.

I like George so my view is a bit different, but I also feel like these are also the BPA guys and I also don’t think we have to draft a PG. If we don’t take the falling wing, Bilal, or Dick we cannot get them later. They won’t fall.

I just want to avoid a situation where we draft a PG and the BPA guys at 16 are also PG/combo guard. I don’t love the other options at 16. Miller would be a nice pick, I suppose, but I’m not in love with Brice/Jett/Hawkins. I like Keyonte more than them even if Keyonte can’t play PG.

Interesting intel from Stein. We should all be mentally prepared to take Bilal in the top 10. Feels like a reach, but if they like him that much I definitely would talk myself into it, especially with our development staff. I just hope Ainge doesn't have Giannis PTSD and is just determined to not get burned again, even if he doesn't think Bilal is all that.

Bilal and Keyonte would feel like a very odd, aimless draft. Especially if we used 28 to move up from 16 to get George. Settle in for a nice long rebuild if that's what happens.

Edit: The real issue with Bilal at 9 is that it's literally impossible for there not to be a guy I really like at 9. Even at 10 it makes way more sense, but passing on Black, Hendricks, or someone else who fell there is a tough sell. Get that Mavs pick!

I don't t think Bilal is a reach at #9 necessarily. Outside the top 7 or 8 players in this draft, there doesn't appear to be a consensus on who the next best player is. Keyonte, Cason, Kobe, Bilal, Dick, etc. are all eye-of-the-beholder type players. The Jazz just need to decide who their guy is. Whoever the Jazz take at #9, people will say the Jazz should have traded down to #11 or #12, but those deals probably aren't available.

His release is beautiful. His problem is that he gets sped up, gets rushed on his shot, and gets off balance. That should be fixable in theory. He may just be better playing more off the ball.

Earlier in the year, I thought he was a top 6 or 7 prospect. I think he's the closest comp to Bradley Beal in this draft.

We're getting way too ahead of ourselves, but he might be an absolute disaster to start the NBA and need time to gain confidence. Bouncing back and forth is probably a better description, so I like that.

Whatever the case, I'll trust that Hardy will have a good development plan for him.
