Let’s say the Jazz gives Orlando #9 and #16 to jump over Wizards to grab Anthony Black.

But Wizard was always gonna grab Bufkin in the first place.

Then, it’s in the Wizards best interest to tell Jazz that, because their rival Orlando picks up #16 pick for free, making them a stronger team.

If you read the report carefully, it says "[rival teams believe] the Jazz are searching to get above Washington’s eighth pick in order to select Arkansas guard Anthony Black."
 
We all know Ainge has strong opinions and is not afraid to make a big bet on someone. Feels like we "should" be content with whoever falls to us, but if Ainge wants his pick up the guys in this tier he can/will trade up.

Yep. Ainge has made some of the most ballsy bets against the grain in recent years and been right on them. If he has strong conviction on a specific player I'd be good with us moving wherever we need to and paying whatever we need to. Doesn't mean I will agree with the move, but I will trust Ainge's evaluation and will support our new guy and give him a chance to prove Ainge right or wrong...

Dude… lmao. What if Washington wants Black? They’re just going to tell Utah that?

If he does make a bet, I think it's also likely that it's not just for his favorite of the group but also someone who he truly believes can be a star. Cam was the obvious target to begin with, I think that's still true after the predraft process. Jarace, Hendricks, and Black could be all stars IMO, but not exactly the players that will carry an offense. The are all more like super role players. Twins? They make me queasy, no way of proving they are good or bad. Doesn't seem like we're in play for the Scoot/Miller tier.

We all kinda feel like there's a consensus top 9....if we're left with the 9th guy and Ainge doesn't love him, I wouldn't be surprised to take someone from the next tier instead. Bufkin, JHS, and Bilal being the most likely targets IMO.
 
It sounds like we are looking to move up. Givony thinks it’s for Jarace and rival teams think it’s for Black.
