2023 NBA Draft Megathread

I remember Michael kidd Gilchrist being an even higher draft pick than bilal and he had all kinds of gifts that weren't going anywhere.
I'm sure there are hundreds of examples.
Don’t make me post the picture or MKG’s jumpshot. Point taken, but I’m definitely buying more and more Bilal stock. Even knowing he’s on the Wizards. Will be interesting to watch the draft class develop and debate it around here forever.
Yep. I was hoping we could draft him 16. Weird way to hate a guy
Didn’t Cy have Hendricks around #16?

I had him 20th

He looks awesome… it’s early doe… Jared Butler was a preseason stud once upon a time. I would take the Wiz first game with all the grains of salt but he was good in the second game too.

Bilal seems to have improved from summer league until now. There have been plenty of raw international prospects that were fools gold… Bilal seems to be on the right trajectory.

The draft is an inexact science… the guys taking victory laps based on a couple preseason games have also had major dunce moves too. Not sure on @KqWIN but I know Cy does at least. For instance where are all the posts about how great JHS has been in his first two preseason games? It’s real quiet on that front… wonder why?

Bilal just turned 19 in July. Yeah, he's going to be improving for like the next 4 years.

For me personally, the real time for a victory lap was draft night. After being told over and over that Bilal can’t happen at #9 he was drafted #7 while the Jazz openly said they wanted him more than the guy they drafted lol. But even now, we’re here trying to say that it was crazy because no “experts” or whatever had him where he was drafted. His actual draft position and the Jazz themselves openly saying they wanted him validates those opinions I was repeatedly opposed for. It wasn’t just the assurance that he wasn’t good enough to be #9, but the assurance that he wasn’t even an option at #9….which ironically became true lol.

Bilal has a lot of career ahead of him and it can go some many different ways, but he’s undoubtedly one of the most interesting prospects. For as much of a “mystery” as he was, I did feel he was somewhat safe as a prospect because he could defend right away and that looks to be the case. Just look at how that guy moves! He looked like a lottery pick to me when I barely knew his name and he wasn’t good enough for the French Senior league. He does look improved from a couple months ago, but that’s his thing isn’t it? He has been developing at such a rapid pace. It will likely be a rough, tiny offensive usage season but I think the defense will be strong and WAS is a good situation for him. Poole and Kuz will likely freeze him out but it may be a good thing.

As far as the other stuff, y’all never fail to disappoint haha. Boo hoo that someone isn’t going to be a homer in their evaluation of a prospect. Saint changes his mind like the weather but if he started saying Hendricks was a good prospect after calling him Midricks all draft cycle that would be shameful lol. It shouldn’t matter if Hendricks plays for the Jazz or not. This came up with the Walker Kessler USA stuff too. If you want to be a homer to each their own I guess, but why get upset when someone isn’t?

He is definitely a problem. Everyone was writing off the spurs as still being bad this year but I don't think that is the case anymore. Wemby could have a Gobert type defensive impact while also having a star type of offensive impact. He looks insane. Then they have 2 very good young wings in Vassell and Johnson who compliment him well and 2 more bigs in Sochan and Collins that do the same.
