I never want to see Hayward or his wife around the Jazz again. Hard pass.Player A is 26 year old Gordon Hayward - which was an All-Star season and the year that Danny Ainge gave him a 4 year, $128 million contract.
Player B is 27 year old Kyle Kuzma coming off his most recent season with Washington. I personally think he should be the Jazz #1 target in free agency this year. Lots of similarities to Hayward when the Celtics went and got him in 2017.
Player C is 28 year old Fred VanVleet a year removed from his All-Star season. I’m not as big a fan of his, due to his size and age, but I can see why others would want him.
Player D is 30 year old Khris Middleton two years ago, which was his most recent All-Star season before his injury riddled season last year.
I don’t want him either. I was pointing out how his numbers during his All-Star season, right before DA signed him to a big contract aren’t all that much better than Kuzma or VanVleet. I definitely prefer Kuzma over all of the other options i mentioned.I never want to see Hayward or his wife around the Jazz again. Hard pass.
Actually this is partly why I thought drafting 3 players in this draft was a waste. Maybe the first guy is going to help us, the others very very likely won't. So why not bundle them for better assets later or a trade or whatever. I mean to be fair maybe they tried that, but it sure didn't feel that way. I think if they tried Woj would have at least been saying there was some buzz with the jazz about possible trades, but nope, nothing. So I'm really disappointed in our 2nd and 3rd picks for that reason.Ya I want to rush the rebuild lol. Im ready to win next season.
To be fair, I don’t think Woj really deals with the rumors at this point… he’s about breaking news that is imminent. Multiple other national guys (Fischer on draft day, Windhorst on the broadcast) talked about how the Jazz were in discussions to trade one of the picks (Fischer) and trade for a power forward (Windy)Actually this is partly why I thought drafting 3 players in this draft was a waste. I actually believe Keyonte was higher on the board than Bufkin. Trade isn't happening.I'm still hoping our number 1 target is unloading whatever hawks need for Kobe.
We could probably land Ohtani, too. He can pitch and DH for the Angels in the summer and play PG for us. With the Salt Lake Bees being the Angels’ AAA affiliate, he could just be assigned to SLC in the winters and Ryan could move him over to the Jazz with minimal paperwork.Let's sign hachimura and Watanabe and completely monopolize the Japanese fan base.
I really can’t wait to hear Locke’s response Keyonte pick since it seemed he was all in in Bufkin and all out in Keyonte.I actually believe Keyonte was higher on the board than Bufkin. Trade isn't happening.
I suspect we're going to get a rumor or two involving an Opt-in and Trade w/ JC. Going to miss the dude no matter what.Tony Jones answered a lot of questions on twitter tonight about how good the Jazz will be next season...he mentioned a lot of players and lineup possibilities but never once mentioned Clarkson. Doesn't seem he expects him to be back next year.
Except he traded up for Keyonte in the official Locked On mock draft.I really can’t wait to hear Locke’s response Keyonte pick since it seemed he was all in in Bufkin and all out in Keyonte.
I thought Keyonte played the 3 in college.Except he traded up for Keyonte in the official Locked On mock draft.
The simple justification for Keyonte over Bufkin is that Keyonte has a lot more experience (and success by extension) as lead ball handler.
He could’ve played the “5” and it doesn’t change that he had a >.30 usage rate, was second in assist% or his non-NCAA experience. He could be a “5” and still be lead ball handler.I thought Keyonte played the 3 in college.
I basically straight up don’t get it. I do not think he or his play style make sense here. He’s also pushing 30 (EDIT: He'll be 28 soon). Not sure he’s that flippable, either.I’m surprised at how much everyone seems to want Kuzma - I don’t really want someone who is going to inhibit Hendricks growth. I don’t want to have a situation like the Knicks, where they still don’t really know how good Toppin is because they’ve had Randle in front of him for his entire career. I’d much rather use our cap space on a vet PG that can teach Keyonte the ropes for a year or two
