2023 NBA Free Agency Thread

What makes everyone think Reeves would have entertained an offer from Utah? You are forgetting there are two sides to this equation. This young man gets to play for one of the most storied franchises in NBA history, next to one of the greatest players to ever play the game, in one of the world’s most desirable cities. And will get over $50 million to do so. I’m not sure he/his agent would even return the Jazz’s call and risk the Lakers not matching.

Mind you, I am saying this as a die hard Jazz fan who grew up in Salt Lake and wouldn’t be caught dead living in LA myself. I just think those of you upset that the Jazz didn’t offer him a contract is silly given you have no idea if he was even interested in talking with anyone but LA.
Because he’s restricted and there was a ceiling on what LA could offer but he could go get a bigger bag from someone else and have LA match.

That’s why, at least at the very minimum.

Reaves signs where he gets the most money. Period.

Turns out NBA teams are more focused on executing their plan to make their best team than trying to be petty.
Trying to make your own team better and make your competition that owe you a draft pick worse are the same thing in a competitive environment.

Ummm money...

If we offered $62 million instead of $54 then he would likely gamble.

Bruce Brown was DEFINITELY returning to defend his title... rrrrrriiiiiiight.

He signed that contract less than 12 hours ago...

Someone said it would be the new Collins contract perpetually in trade rumors. And it has already begun. Holy sharts that was fast.
The timing of the Dame request is only ironic if you think he didn't wait until his homie got paid first then they both bail.
Now that he is being shopped, I guess we can forget about going after Scoot. My first opinion was it would have been easy for us to send a couple picks and young players to help Dame and the Blazers trade for another vet and get Scoot back. Now POR is going to go full rebuild as they should.
