2023 NBA Free Agency Thread

I think you've got to go beyond the basics with FVV....Yes his TS% is low, but this man is an analytics darling. His "on paper" case is as strong as anyone. Is he small? Yes he is, but that doesn't change the fact that he's a great defender. He locked up Curry in an NBA finals for crying out loud.

Look at all the good "small" PG's over the years who don't rely on athleticism and analyze their age 29-31 seasons. That is prime time. If FVV wants to play here, we should get him.
If his options are stay in Toronto on a 4/120, go to Houston on a 2/80... I don't know why he wouldn't at least consider us for 4/120... I don't know why we wouldn't at least have the convo with him. I could also see Toronto being interested in THT or Sexton in a sign and trade deal that helps make the money work. Sending Sexton lowers the cap impact... IDK I don't think it will hamstring us all that bad unless he has a super unfortunate injury... and that risk is there with all players.

I haven’t read the rumors, but it just doesn’t feel like TOR is in the running. There’s definitely some beef there and nobody in Toronto seems happy. If he wants the money he can go to HOU….but if he wants to be competing and not join the NBA version of Squid Games I think UTA is the best option for him.

I wouldn’t rule out Clarkson to TOR somehow btw. TOR is in a cap space trap and they couldn’t get him unless it’s in a sign and trade.

THT and KO for FVV would work too... Does this lineup do something for us?

FVV
JC
JC2
Lauri
Kessler

with Sexton, Ochai, Hendricks, George, Dunn, etc. off the bench.

Yeah, he ran his mouth and couldn't back it up. Was embarrassing for everyone involved. Still, he's not a bad player, and I never heard that his teammates had any problems with him.
Yeah, cuz he's a weird goblin dude that derives his special powers from eating his teammates bo-dags right off their booties. Everyone wins.

DA is going to be opportunistic, without blowing the bank. The Westbrook/Conley trade was crucial for this off-season because it opened up a TON of flexibility this year.
It took a while but I’m seeing his genius in that trade finally.
I’m thinking we should go after Rui.
Why? We have a million good forwards on this team as it is. We do want Hendricks to get some time, right?

I don't think the Grizzlies had much accountability in terms of behavior on/off court as long as you played hard, which they all did.

All that being said, Brooks takes awful shots. He kind of gives back what he gives you on D with how bad his shot selection is.

I think it's a good get for Houston though because he will raise their effort level on D which they really need.
