2024-2025 Tank Race

They are playing with fire. If they trade anyone it opens up more THT minutes.
It would be hilarious and sad at the same time if THT blew up their tank. Chicago has not tanked since forever, so if THT would randomly destroy the one year they did actually pull the plug it would have great comic value. I mean sure you could argue that they tanked at the end of Hoiberg era and during Boylen era, but some Chicago fans seem to think that wasnt the case.

According to Fischer their main goals are to shed salary and improve their draft position. He says everyone is likely to be available, so it could be a real firesale. And they could start early and sell at discount rates... but that one I wont believe until I see it.

I think it's been fairly optimistic, what has you down? It's still not a big spread between us, but scrappiness from Brooklyn/Portland/Detroit has been good.

I know they're either injured or broken, but I just struggle to see Philly or New Orleans being worse than us over a season. They'll get their **** together enough. Washington is an epic **** storm, perfectly crafted to tank and we shouldn't worry to much about passing them.

Toronto/Charlotte/Chicago are neck and neck with us, but have at least shown themselves to be more competitive than us so far.

The season is full of runs, but I'm feeling pretty good about our potential for bottom 3 seed. Collins/Collin trades would definitely help but not feeling too likely. Collier and Cody are our secret tank weapons, and hopefully they get unleashed for 25 MPG later in the season.

Chicago is making calls already Rumors about Pat Williams, Lonzo Ball, Nikola Vucevic and Zach Lavine out there. Nothing on Giddey or White that I've seen.

It feels like they may want to start a firesale early before they are too far from the bottom. They may end up being more formiddable in this race than they are right now.

Their guys seem fairly difficult to move. Lavine and Pat are on huge contracts. Vuc is expiring, but not exactly and easy fit. There’s going to be a lot of competition between teams that want to tank and move off from vets. I think other teams have more desirable assets to trade, but CHI is still a team to watch for sure. Think they are more in the 6-10 range so they can keep their pick rather than a top 3 threat though.

I think this is about as good as you could have hoped for while keeping Lauri. If we wanted to be like the Wizards we would have had to trade him and probably others as well.

The Jazz are the 4th worst team with 2 teams below them only being there because of the multiple injuries to clearly better players (i.e. they have a good chance of getting better) and you are still not happy? The only truly tanking team below us is Washington.

NOP gonna wrap it up soon and tank. They may end up losing like 17 of 18. Think right now they’ve lost 12 out of 13 with the only win against the Jokicless Nuggs.

Philly likely still makes a run because in the East they haven’t lost contact and any funny business for them will trigger NBA investigations. No one cares what happens in NO… unless Zions team gets really vocal if he’s actually healthy. Even then he only stays healthy for like 5-10 games.

What has me down is that I dont think the jazz are going to tank as hard as other teams and I dont think the jazz end up in the bottom 5.

They will. The one thing you can count on is they will tank hard after a certain point. The fact they are this low already is a great sign. It's been a 10/10 tank year so far.

Having two playoff teams decimated by injuries isn't something we can really control

Are you talking about the Utah Jazz?! The same Jazz who finished last season by going 1-16 until they secured their preferred position?

Since February 8 until today the Jazz posted the 9-39 record: this is the 15-67 pace. The Jazz are not going to tank: they already have been tanking incredibly hard for the last 10 months - in the last 12 years only 2 teams managed to have the record that is worse than 15-67.

Watched the end of the Washington game against Milwaukee because it was close for a bit

They're not a good team. But Brogdon when healthy is at least a competitor.

I have said that NOP have enough talent that even with their injuries we should still be able to slip below them. I've changed my mind, this team is emotionally dead right now.

They've got people coming back slowly like Murray/TM3/McCollum, but I think BI might just pout until he's traded. This is mind blowing to me given the deep talent on the roster but injuries broke an entire team.

I've updated the OP. I've decided to use it as a snap shot of the bottom 10 every 10 games or so. Dropping out of the tank race for now is SAS. Being added to the tank race for now is PHI, and NOP. Even though Sacramento is technically in the bottom 10 I'm not tracking them yet.

From Last Night:
UTA loses by 1
POR loses by 6
NOP loses by 33
TOR wins by 3
BKN loses by 8
