2024-2025 Tank Race

At least from the box score they are both playing pretty good right now. Even their young guys are probably playing better than expectation, and they are still losing.
You should watch a WAS game. The box-score doesn't tell what your eyes tell. Poole and Kuzma both have that unique skills of being able to have good numbers themselves while making everybody around them appear super bad.

No thanks.

Just kidding, and I've seen enough to know what you are talking about.

The only hope I'm seeing for catching up to the Wizards is that they have the third easiest remaining strength of schedule and we have the 5th hardest.

Interesting that we are able to be the 5th hardest when we can’t play ourselves.

Also, something I randomly noticed is that we play POR 4 times. POR is unironically a matchup nightmare for us because they pick up full court and put pressure on the ball. We all know what happened in the preseason…If any team really wants to beat us they can just apply ball pressure. For POR that is their default way of playing.

Raptors vs. Pelicans tonight. We should drop a spot just from that game. That’s assuming we don’t somehow beat the Nuggets. Maybe we’ll get lucky, and the Wizards and 76ers will also pick up wins tonight.

UTA loses by 13
WAS loses by 19

How does WAS get wins?
They don't: they are on the 12 game losing streaks for a reason. The Wizards play their rookies for 30+ minutes and all of their remaining vets are very mid except for Brogdon. The Jazz can match them only if their started and played for 30+ minutes the Filipowski-Cody-Clarkson-Keyonte-Collier lineup. And even then our bench would probably get us more wins.

I’m worried we are becoming a more cohesive unit. Soon we will look like a cohesive unit for a full 4 quarters. Heaven forbid. I’m hoping this won’t be the case for at least 2 more years.

Cam Thomas out 3-4 weeks with a hamstring injury. Those always take longer than expected. He’s obviously not a perfect player, but super important to them. His high usage keeps everyone in an appropriate role and he is efficient in that role. Things will start to get ugly for BKN once you have guys doing things beyond themselves.

If we’re hoping to actually use Lauri in a contention window then it would be both extremely difficult and stupid to tank for two more additional years (at least/especially if we draft a true blue chip this upcoming offseason).

On the other hand, we could trade Lauri this upcoming offseason but his market will be depressed unless he comes back, plays a bunch of games, and looks much better than he does right now. Which will probably make the tanking difficult.

Tyrese Martin is not a randomly generated player, he's a guy who just dropped 30 on the Suns to secure another BKN victory!
