2024-2025 Tank Race

The Wolves won three games in a row in the early part of the season … and are still outside the play-in. That's just shows how tough is the West and how hard it is to move up in the standings there. Minnesota is in for a long and difficult season: their hole did not look that deep but it would take a lot to get out of it even if everything goes right for them.

Clippers looked dead on a back-to-back. Twolves also had a rest advantage vs. the Lakers. I think they're going to hover around .500 for a while.

Here's my SWOT analysis for the Jazz Tank this year:

Strength: Tanking teams that we are definitely worse than: SAS, DET,

Weakness: Tanking teams that are definitely worse than us: WAS

Opportunity: Tanking Teams that we can outtank if we try: POR, CHA, TOR, BKN, CHI,

Threats: Teams that didn't start off as tankers, but are just bad: NOP, PHI, SAC,

NOP is about 80% healthy now. They looked a lot better against a Durantless Suns team tonight. Unfortunately their upcoming schedule is tough.

There still a huge threat, but I remain optimistic that we'll beat them out. It took them to be as injured as they are to hang with us and we haven't had nearly the same amount of injuries. They can pull the plug, but so can we.

Phoenix is 1-7 without Durant. The one win was against us. Schedule and BI drama as well as general health issues are still really concerning. Hopefully they can stay healthy but they are one of the biggest threats we have.

Detroit isn’t tanking.

Detroit isn’t tanking.

Yes, and neither is SAS, they both want to win and for now I don't see them purposefully losing games at any point this season. That's why they are in the Strength category, or in other words, teams I'm not worried about.

The term tanking team is for the group of teams that I thought we would be competing with at the first of the year.

The next 5 games have some landmines. Porty tonight, Kangs suck, Durantless Suns, Clips (should be a loss) and the Pistons.

That feels like a 2-3 stretch that might cause some panic. How's your back feeling Lauri?

Well, hopefully he’s been playing hurt, otherwise he’s gotten significantly worse at basketball.

Portland are awful to watch

Charlotte has lost 8 games in a row and is starting to encroach. I don't think they'll just pull the red handle though. It's their injuries that are holding them back.
