A better way to put that is I don’t have hope for the Mavericks, so they might actually go into the root against group. Spurs have been kinda resilient, I mostly just need their lottery odds as low as possible. Blazers are energetic and the kind of team that on a single-game basis might be able to beat anybody (or lose badly). All of this relies on and/or drives towards Minnesota being the 9th seed and having two chances to lose one game.
 
If the lotto is rigged it kind of feels like Dallas is going to win it this year. That fan base is going through worse stuff than NOP's fans were when they lost AD.

The only good thing about Dallas likely losing a lot of games is that we own their second round pick. Maybe we can get a top 40 pick now?

I know we're generally tongue in cheek about rigged lotteries, but just a reminder that all the owners are billionaires and you don't get to cheat billionaires like you do us everyday schmucks. If there was a hint of something fishy and it effects him negatively, Ballmer is arguably richer than the entire league. E&Y overseas the whole process as a 3rd party.

Probably responding too much to just a fun joke, Dallas is going through the biggest season from hell I can remember. From going to the Finals to trading about their future and then missing an extended playin is an all-time collapse

What's good for the league in general is often good for everyone. That's not me saying Dallas with the #1 is best for the league. The franchises as a collective will tolerate so much skewed favoritism to the likes of the Lakers because when the Lakers are successful, the league (and thus franchises) benefit.

The Lakers have definitely gotten sweet deals, and their success does benefit the league.

Still deeply don't believe the lottery is rigged. E&Y's revenue was 5x that of the NBA last year and their business is entirely built on trust and "ethics" (or their own corporate version). The NBA is entertainment and definitely is able to survive with gray area like the Donaughey scandal, but not the same for other industries. I get one owner doing sweetheart deals that benefits another team like the Lakers for a variety of reasons that somehow benefits them, but don't think you get 29 owners who see that vision. The Luka deal clearly upset many other owners.
 
Sadly there is no way that the pelicans can beat the rockets tonight even being at home and even if Zion and CJ play. Rockets are just too good.
