2024-25 Trade Rumors Thread

Why? He basically makes the MLE and because he’s a microwave/bench scorer he can fit a ton of places.

Collins’ market is rather constrained due to his salary and some fit issues.

As far as the assets they can return, yeah, Clarkson almost certainly returns less.
We couldn't trade JC the past few seasons and he's not expiring. Nothing has changed.

Jazz get some sort of draft capital (2nd rounders obviously).

Quin gets his guy and a young rim runner that fits his offense. Maybe a non-starter because it puts the Mavs back into the tax, but there is probably some creative thing that you could do to include a 4th team to take a tax break off?

1. Couldn’t and wouldn’t are different things
2. Remaining years on contract is shorter (important for players over 30)
3. He’s more of a deadline acquisition for a team trying to get over the hump than an off-season acquisition

On point one (and the question generally), I think it’s largely a question of taking less than the FO wants. There was reporting two years ago that he could’ve fetched a boat of 2nds and Utah passed (which I think/thought was a mistake). His value isn’t great but 10+ could probably use him and matching his salary is easy. Those things alone makes trading him more probable than Collins.

Actually think Clarkson is the most likely to get dealt at this point. He's having a great year and he's on a decent contract that is easy to trade for.

Collins just makes too much money to make enough trades work and he has a player option, so there isnt even complete security he will be with whatever team that trades for him more than a half season.

Clarkson has missed 22 games this year with a lingering foot injury.

It’s the Mavs that are sending the pick to Philly, I believe.
Ahh, good catch. because it was the Philly pick I just assumed it was to theMavs, but its the Mavs giving it back. Makes it less good then, but I still get it overall.
