2024-25 Trade Rumors Thread

Sexton is now shooting 43% from 3 and Collins 40% from 3.

Not saying they are the top trade pieces on the market, but they both are options for teams given their shooting improvement.
Collins has been shockingly good and consistent. I almost always think its going in when he is open. Super cool teammate and player to watch. I wouldn't trade him just to trade him. It will get a little goofy when I want to see more Flip tho.

He's also been doing this playing many minutes next to a big. I actually think his defense at C and offense at PF have been significantly better. Don't think it results in being able to trade him for value, but he's really broken out of that mold where he can only score as a roll man w/an elite PG. He's added a ton of versatility to his game.

All those weirdo dribble drives where he jumps high and shoots like a 5 foot bank shot that missed last year and always led to me saying "why?" seem to be going in too. I don't think we have a route to cap space that we really want to use or that limits us really... so unless I got a younger player I liked or some seconds with the expiring salary I'm likely just cool standing pat. This all assumes the tank is still rolling without much harm. I have fallen victim to the dreaded Dant Exum principle that @infection invented.

It's our time. PHX 31 unprotected might be enough for me to get Kessler. We'd likely get off of Clarkson as well.

Look 2031 is a long way away. And you mean to tell me I gotta watch Nurkic play basketball for two years on top of waiting. For those reasons I'm out.

All these deals get more attractive if the tank is failing... right now the tank is tanking so I need a little more. They can't even offer swaps.

I mean… an unprotected pick from a team with no talent and unable to add talent would be crazy juicy. ‘31 from Phoenix would be like our crown jewel asset until/unless we actually secure and successfully develop a blue-chipper.

In 2031 we will be in the second reign of the alien cyborgs who overtook our AI overlords to free us... only to enslave us again.

I get the appeal... if the tank starts to fail I would consider holding my nose while watching Nurk get 30 minutes a night.

The thing about the tank is that it's not really a black/white question of is it failing or is it not. When it comes to all of the guys who help us win, they are costing us some kind of tanking benefit. Even if it's just a win or two, that could mean a lotto spot or two.

I'm not saying we should just dump everyone that helps us win, but it comes down to how much value you think they can provide beyond tanking....for us it looks like we might be tanking for awhile. Lauri obviously carries a lot of future value, I think Collins is maybe playing at a level where he's carrying his weight, no need to discuss Sexton further, and Kessler has quite a bit of future value as well. The 31 pick would definitely make me think hard about it. It would be our most valuable owed pick by some margin IMO.

I’d like to keep him and sign him to a new contract at a bargain loyalty rate. I like him off the bench as a sixth man with his percentages right now and his ability to switch.

That wouldn't be a bad outcome for us. His contract makes him tough to trade, but on a more reasonable deal he's a good fit for so many teams. He's playing extremely well for us now in multiple positions and I still don't think we're the best fit for utilizing his skills. He's succeeding despite us playing him towards his weaknesses (or previous weaknesses) and that says a lot about how far he's come in terms of versatility.

Maybe. Right now the tank is tanking tho. We will never catch the Wiz. 2nd and 3rd worst is pretty similar. I think we out tank NO but it could be close. I'm not particularly worried about the East teams as I think they cannabilize themselves. Porty has already doubled up our wins. Moving Walker might just be the diff between 2 and 3 and it just isn't worth it to me.

With NO their schedule gets easier in January. Zion has a wonky contract but I think if he doesn't appear in like 41 games he can be waived. I don't think anyone has the full terms there. Either way he may come back long enough to hit his marks and it may be in the easy part of their schedule. BI will get moved or re-sign before the end of the year. It will depend on what they get there too. I think its kind of a toss up between us and them right now.

If it was just Walker for 2031 and some seconds... then fine. I am enjoying watching these assy games tho... and Nurk will make that so much harder... and likely not gonna be able to move him for a year and a half. We have to think about my sanity okay.
