2024-25 Trade Rumors Thread

Actually think Clarkson is the most likely to get dealt at this point. He's having a great year and he's on a decent contract that is easy to trade for.

Collins just makes too much money to make enough trades work and he has a player option, so there isnt even complete security he will be with whatever team that trades for him more than a half season.
He’s not opting out unless it’s to sign an extension. Look around the league at cap space who’s paying him more than 27M next year?

Probably right, but I guess the potential is still there he leaves. Maybe San Antonio tells him they will give him a nice contract (do they have space to offer a 20 per year type deal, I do not know).

I think we'll trade Collins.

Clarkson... that's a tough ask.
Why? He basically makes the MLE and because he’s a microwave/bench scorer he can fit a ton of places.

Collins’ market is rather constrained due to his salary and some fit issues.

As far as the assets they can return, yeah, Clarkson almost certainly returns less.

I wonder if the Hawks/Mavs would swap Okongwu/Gafford.

Gafford is a better fit on Atlanta than Okongwu. Okongwu has an two more years on his deal that might be appealing to the Mavs (would give them security in case Lively's next contract is too expensive for them). Okongwu has a bit more overall versatility that might be appealing next to AD since they arent as concerned with 48 minutes of lob threat rim running 5's since Luka isnt there anymore.

Hawks would include a 2nd rounder?

We couldn't trade JC the past few seasons and he's not expiring. Nothing has changed.

Jazz get some sort of draft capital (2nd rounders obviously).

Quin gets his guy and a young rim runner that fits his offense. Maybe a non-starter because it puts the Mavs back into the tax, but there is probably some creative thing that you could do to include a 4th team to take a tax break off?

1. Couldn’t and wouldn’t are different things
2. Remaining years on contract is shorter (important for players over 30)
3. He’s more of a deadline acquisition for a team trying to get over the hump than an off-season acquisition

On point one (and the question generally), I think it’s largely a question of taking less than the FO wants. There was reporting two years ago that he could’ve fetched a boat of 2nds and Utah passed (which I think/thought was a mistake). His value isn’t great but 10+ could probably use him and matching his salary is easy. Those things alone makes trading him more probable than Collins.

Clarkson has missed 22 games this year with a lingering foot injury.

I haven't figured this out yet. Why there? Is this just a ploy to be like... "fine I will come to GS if yall pay me". What exactly is the reasoning/end game if its not money?
Like, how does he think it's going to happen? Is he angling for KD to get sent out and for him to pair up with Booker? Because he has to know Beal isnt leaving.

That's kind of the only thing that makes any sense. Suns get a net return on assets to switch from KD to Butler.

He's going to ruin his career
What if Suns don't want him
What if Heat does not want Suns offer
What if Heat just suspend him permanently without pay
Lot of what ifs here
