2024-25 Trade Rumors Thread

Still think we can take advantage of Rockets situation as they are so stacked right now. Since Whitmore falling out of rotation, it's now Sheppard and Jabari Smith's turn to struggle for minutes. They need veterans (JC, Collins, Sexton, etc) who can lead the way for their playoff push and we can help our rebuild/tank by adding more younger players who have the potential to be good for us a few years down the road.

I wouldn't even mind Jaesean Tate, who's not in Udoka's rotation at all this season. Add some defense and toughness to the team.

Damn. That would be damn near perfect for them IMO. I’ve been thinking a PnR big that brings real rim pressure and a respectable 3-ball is the one archetype of player that will pop most next to Wemby.

Zach Collins ain't bad, but John Collins would be a really good fit with Wemby...especially with the way he's expanded his game. He's obviously been playing great in his current role, but we're not even using his best attribute which is his PnR finishing. John Collins would be a great pairing with either CP3 or Tre Jones when he comes back. It doesn't really seem like they want Wemby being a rim runner, I think you're right about them missing some pressure on the rim.

If I'm them I'm definitely just chilling and sitting on what they have versus making move towards play in contention.

I think Collin Sexton and Kessler for Russell (dump) and Hayes (replacement for Walker) makes sense for the Lakers. Just how sweet do they have to make it for the Jazz to move Walker? Probably too sweet for their blood.
Jazz are not taking Hayes after the TMZ video just resurfaced of his domestic violence case.

Does Flip make Kessler more expendable? Just a question, but it makes me think back to Olynyk and how he rarely played whmith Kessler. Am I making that up? I am just going off of memory.

Also, if Flip makes Kessler more available, the jazz weren't willing to trade Kessler for two high Knick picks so I think you need a premier pick, unprotected, or multiple promising picks.

Lakers 2029 plus removing protections come in to play. I also think it is noteworthy that Sexton and Clarksons contracts are very tradeable and similar to Russels.

One of the Knicks picks was not really a first rounder (its Wizards top 10 protected for this year, after which it converts to a 2nd).... and the other one could also convert to a 2nd rounder and has literally no upside since its at least top 9 protected all the way.

However that Lakers deal aint happening. Pelinka is clearly in the mode where he is fake window shopping but not really buying, unless he can pull off player for player deals without involving their picks.

We may be able to leverage the 2027 pick we own down the road, and maybe get in pole position in the AD sweepstakes that are coming few years from now.. if we at that point even want to participate in such sweepstakes.

To add to my previous point, I think Pelinka would be willing to throw out their picks if it was for a guy like Giannis or something like that... but I dont think they would trade any of their picks for a role player no matter how glorified that role player would be.

No, Flip does not make Kessler expendable. They are different players.

I believe the unwillingness to add picks to any deal that isnt a star is more from the ownership level.

The three big lineup is the way to go. Hardy really worked his magic with KO/Lauri/Walker last season and we were cooking for quite a while. No reason we can't repeat that same success with Filip/Lauri/Walker. We just need to upgrade our backcourt with better defense and more playmaking.
