2024-25 Trade Rumors Thread

The three big lineup is the way to go. Hardy really worked his magic with KO/Lauri/Walker last season and we were cooking for quite a while. No reason we can't repeat that same success with Filip/Lauri/Walker. We just need to upgrade our backcourt with better defense and more playmaking.
Can't play Kessler and Flip together. Two bigs who can't/won't shoot. Kills all spacing.

KO was one of our best 3P shooters, so if Hardy can make the triple tower work with Flip then its gonna look a lot different. Not saying it cant be done, but the script will be different.

To add to my previous point, I think Pelinka would be willing to throw out their picks if it was for a guy like Giannis or something like that... but I dont think they would trade any of their picks for a role player no matter how glorified that role player would be.
I think that might've been their intention but they don't have nearly enough draft capital/assets to trade for such a star player. AD and Lebron despite his age are both still playing like superstars which they also proved during the Olympics. Either they trade their picks for high end roleplayers or they just settle for not winning anymore rings during this current AD/LBJ era. Those guys along with Reaves and Knecht are playing way too many minutes and need help. They have a solid top 4 but desperately need a defensive big to take the load off AD and also need bench help as it's obvious DLo and his bad attitude has already fallen out of favor with Redick.

FWIW I don't believe Flip makes Kessler more "expendable" but I would say that he has more of the offensive skillset they might be looking for in a big. Tough to say but my hunch is they aren't completely sold on Kessler as a long term franchise piece.

Agreed. KO and Flip are a bit similar but KO's game was mostly out at the 3 pt line and he could make them consistently if not defended.

It would likely be a bit more clunky to fit Flip and Kessler on the floor together. That's the Jazz roster in a nutshell this season. None of the parts match in either the front or backcourts.

The main difference is Filipowski is much more athletic than KO.

I still think the main path for improvement for Filipowski is strength more so than shooting. Even if teams are sagging off him at the 3pt line because he doesnt want to/cant be a volume shooter, his danger lies in the DHO games and his ability to get downhill with his coordination/playmaking.

KO was a good shooter, but he was never a volume shooter.

The big skill jump is being able to operate at the 3pt line simultaneously as a shooting threat and a hub. Right now Filipowski is catching it and looking to make plays, so he isnt shot ready.

The projected upside of owning their draft from 2028 to 2031 would be very high. Steal Knecht and Reaves in the process and I dont know how those picks turn into anything but premium ones.

Still not enough for Giannis probably though.

KO did also skip a lot of open looks (used to drive TU mad).. so its not like he was guarded like a guy who immediately puts one up.

Sexton/Clarkson would be great fits for LAC. Kevin Porter Jr has been *** this season, but the Clippers need some bench scoring. Sexton/Clarkson already have built in chemistry with Dunn and would fit right in.

Yeah, KO wasn't guarded that carefully at the 3 because he didn't shoot much. He averaged 1.7 attempts for the Jazz. He passed up open shots a lot, way too much for how good of shooter he was.
