2024-25 Trade Rumors Thread

KO did also skip a lot of open looks (used to drive TU mad).. so its not like he was guarded like a guy who immediately puts one up.
That's why I said he had his quirks. Kelly never took all the 3pt shots he was supposed to, but the fact remains that his skill (both real and perceived) at the perimeter opened up both our spacing and his driving/passing game.

Teams never left him open on purpose, he was shooting 40% FFS… but everyone gets open out there now and then, particularly when you're a 3th/4th option scorer.

Here are the trade destinations the come off the top of my head. I'm being very generous here:

Kessler:
LAL
CHO
NOP
PHX
ATL
SAC
NYK

Collins:
LAL
CHO
NOP
PHX
CHI
SAS
SAC
LAC

Sexton:
ORL
DET
ATL
CHO
LAL
LAC
DAL
SAS

Clarkson:
ORL
ATL
LAL
LAC

Most likely trade would be Clarkson/Sexton to LAC for Tucker+Hyland imo.

I hope Danny has similar lists prepared. Given the quality of the 2025 draft, the tank battle after the trade deadline will be fierce.

Originated by @KqWIN to give credit where its due, but the trade market is going to be tough/constipated this year. The buyer's don't have many assets and almost no financial flexibility. The Nets have a lot of good stuff to sell, Portland has some stuff too (but don't strike me as a big seller), and I can see the Bulls/NOP selling off some stuff too. I think if you WANT to make a deal and you are DA, you will have to take salvage value in most deals involving JCs, Sexton... or take mid-value for Kessler.

Sure. It's easier said than done to trade any of these players, except Kessler perhaps. Danny probably tried it in the offseason. But I'm pretty sure he'll be at it again before the trade deadline.

For sure. He will make every attempt.

Might be a hot take, but I'd trade Sexton for neutral value right now. There's no light at the end of the tunnel here, he will just leave at the end of his contract and there won't be an attempt by either side to continue the partnership. I think the damage done to our tanking efforts from him outweighs the potential we re-sign him later.

There won't be any takers.

Lakers would love to get off DLo. He's apparently up to his old antics being toxic in the locker room. They could extend the asset a year by acquiring Collin and fill their bench scorer role. I still think a Kessler+Sexton deal to LA probably makes most sense for both teams. Jazz could just tell DLo to sit at home like they've done with Westbrook (twice).

Magic would likely offer something like Cole Anthony + Gary Harris. They have some extra picks lying around too. KCP has been a bit of a bust so far and they desperately need additional scoring/athleticism from their guards.

I'd also throw the Clippers in there. They can trade Tucker and Bones as expiring salary. Kevin Porter Jr has been horrid and they're relying on him as their bench scorer. Their picks are decimated but you could figure out away to get some compensation there....but like I said, I don't see the point on this team so I wouldn't expect any value for him.

1st trade:

Sexton -> LAL
Russell -> ORL
Anthony -> UTA
Picks (not much) -> UTA

We get a first for Sexton, Lakers upgrade their bench, ORL upgrades their bench and gets off of Cole Anthony's contract next season (they are going to be battling the tax next summer).

2nd trade:

Clarkson -> LAC
Tucker -> UTA
Hyland -> UTA

Salary dump.
