We really using any excuse for Castle now… huh. He’s playing within the team that’s why he passed up wide open threes. Maybe it’s the fact he shot 26.7% from three on the year and isn’t confident shooting it.

He's too good of a kid and such a hard worker, that is what prevented him from taking and making 3's. Trust me bro.

Right, no chance Topic can become a better defender but Castle FOR SURE can become a better shooter.

Please tell me how it works then. You should generally look to the past to find examples where it did and didn't work? Can't turn a blind eye to the bad ones but there are plenty of guys who had his shooting profile that developed... and plenty who didn't. I'd say its close to 50/50 whether he will develop as an average to slightly above average shooter.

I said this on the pod but in reality those past guys don’t matter at all. It’s kind of the same thing as when they say x team hasn’t beaten y in over 10+ years. Well those past teams and players have no barring on the current team. It’s all a case by case basis.

Bro I’m just playing devils advocate here because you mentioned two shots (one he didn’t even make) as a reason you think he could be a better shooter.

I said his shot looked fine mechanically and I believe in his attitude and work ethic to get better.

Also, for as much as people **** on Anthony Black last year for being a non-shooter he shot a higher % on more attempts in the worst offensive scheme imaginable. It’s an apples to oranges comparison.

Seems like people are acting like he's a top 5 lock and don't see his shooting as a concern at all. I might actually have him in the top 5 of my board, but I still think it's an oversight to see the obvious concern. Most players that are extremely hesitant to shoot and shoot 27% from 3 do not turn into above average shooters. Please do not pull up some anecdotal name that did, that's not how it works. Like I said, there's always a chance a bad shooter turns into a good one, but the extreme confidence people have in him either improving or that it doesn't matter is a bit much for me.

I'm more convinced when people can acknowledge both sides to a topic. Seems like people are just turning a blind eye on Castle's shooting.

I'm not... there is obvious concern with his shooting.... not just that it doesn't go in but IMO he clearly lacks confidence in it and is passing on shots he needs to take. And despite all that, I still like him the best from all the prospects I've watched so far and I do think there are reasons to think he will improve his shooting(form looks good and repeatable, FT% is solid, work ethic and attitude)

I'd say there are 5x the examples of guys with Castle's shooting profile that became decent/good shooters than there are guys with Topic's defensive profile that became good defenders. Guys develop... guessing which guys develop which skills is hard.

Can people post their top 5-10 players? I'm very certain at least half the players on any list will have shooting concerns. That's like the thing basically every single prospect has to improve to make it at the next level.

Topic at least has the tools to become a better defender with his size. 6’7 in shoes with a 7’0 wingspan. I’m willing to bet on a guy with those measurables.

He does. But #1 imma need to see an official measurement before I give him a 7' wingspan. #2 plenty of guys that are bigger pgs aren't good on defense. He's a fine prospect. Castle and Topic should be in the same tier imo. Just think Castle is going to be easier to fit next to other guys.
