There are videos of him shooting like 75% from 3 from like... a month ago at the combine.

John Collins shoots 80% at the rim and (when given the chance) is still one of the best roll men in the league. Saluan was awful at the rim this year.

Empty gym shooting is what it is. I don't think either says more than his actual shooting in the games....but it does help explain why Givony was low on him for most of the season.

I think the most damning thing about Castle's shooting is that teams more or less guarded him like Ben Simmons.

Oh I don't like that at all lol. He did well at the combine but that's troubling.

For me, it's not just the low shooting percentage and the reluctance to take open shots. It's the fact that he wasn't beating guys off the dribble. He wasn't getting to the rim unless someone got him an open lane. He seemed to bully smaller guards in the mid-post, but it was more sizzle than steak. It wasn't creating advantages for his teammates. I thought they were creating advantages for him. He's got measurables, but his athleticism is going to be pretty average for starting NBA wings.

And just a comparison... empty gym I will shoot about 80% from three... that's without a passer. I did not make it in the nba. Open gym even guys that can't shoot should be able to shoot if you know what I mean.

If he isn't stringing 3-4 in a row together in warmups then I know why he isn't shooting.

If he isn't stringing 3-4 in a row together in warmups then I know why he isn't shooting.

A lot of people were coming to his defense saying, "if he was just confident he can shoot". While I think there is some validity to that....chances are he's not confident in shooting because he can't shoot.

Damn, I liked Castle but now I know he had one bad shooting warmup on some random game day last year I'm totally out.

I would be more concerned if Castle was a lights out shooter in warmups but then suddenly couldnt shoot when the games started. He was a bad shooter, we all know that. The point is he is getting better.

Yeah, if it took you that podcast clip to be concerned about Castle's shooting.....I think you were ignoring a huge problem. He's guarded like Ben Simmons and shot 27% from 3. Of course it was a big concern.
