2024 NBA Draft Mega Thread

I really want to watch the championship game live tonight, but not sure if I'll make it. We are hosting a bunch of family for the eclipse and I'm pretty wiped, it's been a long, but fun weekend.

It's too bad it starts so late EST because my son is finally getting in to basketball and was looking forward to watching the game.
He can stay up lol

Risacher measured at 6’9.5 w/shoes with a 6’10.5 wingspan last year. He’s a little bigger than I thought.

Wingspan spooks me a bit at #1 overall unless he projects as a legit guard or wing. The list of top tier NBA players without a meaningfully plus wingspan is small.

Same comment about Collier (obviously he's not in contention for #1).

Eh, probably more than you would think. The majority of good players in the NBA have a plus wingspan, but the majority of draft prospects in general have a plus wingspan. Wingspan is important, but I do wonder if we've emphasized it too much. Probably more important to evaluate the things that wingpsan is supposed to help with.

Some random thoughts about wingspan in my 5 minute study. Don't take this too serious, but I was thinking about longer winspans = better outcomes. I did some googling and found this article from 2014 that weighs the average measurements of NBA players according to their minutes. Here is the average height (no shoes) to winspan:

PG : +4.9
SG : +4.0
SF: +5.6
PF: +5.3
C: +5.1

Now compare that to DX's database of all years all drafted players:

PG : +4.75
SG : +4.5
SF: +4.75
PF: +5.25
C: +5.25

Take this information as you will, but if the value is higher in the first set of numbers....that would indicate that it is more important and the opposite would be true if it was lower.

Just hope it's a good game. Would rather see Edey win, but been a big fan of UConn these last two years.

I think Edey has Clingan with the pivot to his left shoulder every time. Clingan way overplaying his hook shot.
