2024 NBA Draft Mega Thread

Would be a horrible decision. Unless the feedback they get is not as good as they hoped.
Why would it be horrible? If he's as good as you seem to think, he could actually boost his stock. He would be the primary option at Kentucky and he would get to be a full fledged point guard.

NIL money would be stupid and he'd be a program saver

I think we hashed over this before last season and I don’t feel like doing it again but if you’re a guaranteed top-5 pick or top-10 at worst you should declare for the draft. What if he got injured or didn’t play as well because his team will likely be **** around him? A lot of risk and not a lot of upside.

You’re also highly overrating total NIL money. He wouldn’t get near what he’d make on the first year of his rookie contract.

The stuff about Kentucky and their NIL boosters is crazy, and they've had crazier stories in the past lol. Coach Cal was good to gtfo.

It's actually not about NIL money or his first year's salary in the NBA. It's about getting to a big second contract in the NBA a year sooner, if his camp believes that's in the cards for him.

I think if you are projected top2-7 its also about the first contract. If you go 10 or 18 the money isn't much different. The second contract sooner is also huge, but he could play well and go 13/14 next year instead of top 3 and its a difference of $10M+

If he stays it will be a bad financial decision but also might make him the happiest so... live your life Reed. Having grown up as a fan of the program I would get it if he went back. Most of the time I think its dumb but its part of his fabric as a person and he can make a bunch of money while pursuing one of his dreams.

Do they have a good incoming recruiting class? That also would factor into my decision if I was Reed.

They did until Coach Cal left
