2024 NBA Draft Mega Thread

It would be a travesty if we passed up the most offensively gifted player in the draft at 10.

Peek has Carter, AJ Johnson, and Dadiet at 10,29, and 32 on her new mock.
I totally love that draft and agree that it AJ would be a throw away. Let me ask you about two players I like and what your opinion is. I watched highlights of Terrence Shannon for the first time the other day and thought he could be a steal due to his legal stuff. He is older but I don't really care about that because timeframes for being really good are so short. Also, Ryan Dunn's defense is fantastic and I am a defense person first. The question is whether he can get his offense even to a mediocre level.

He's long and athletic w/ a wide skillset. He's just not assertive. He's young enough to have potential to go in different directions based on development.
I'm just not sure he has a "wide skillset" that is practically useful or applicable in the NBA...

What do you think his ceiling is, and who would you liken his ceiling to. I am different from you because if a player is short and one dimensional, then I want no part of them, especially if they are a short combo guard. Just my opinion.

Just wondering here if Danny and Zanik have their final draft board ready yet. I’d love to see them be able to move up and snatch Reed Sheppard for us. The kid seems brimming with potential and has already put up historical shooting numbers. I just read a good quote where Rajon Rondo (who couldn’t shoot but knew how to facilitate) summed it up: “Watch how Reed controls the game. … He knows the game. He’s always in the right spot. He’s not the most athletic, he’s not the fastest, but his IQ — he’s able to manipulate the game. Now some people are saying he’s the No. 1 pick in the game. That’s all IQ and the way he shoots the basketball.”

In today’s game, anyone who can shoot off the dribble from 28+ feet is pretty damn attractive, as long as the rest of his game holds up. Sheppard’s shooting stats are eye-popping. Then add his ability to move the ball and it starts to make sense.

Not really a believer in either,

I think his ceiling is a 25+ PPG scorer and I would liken his ceiling to someone like Darius Garland.

I don’t really want a short guard either unless they’re an elite scorer which I think Dilly can be. It’s well worth the risk at 10.

He’s the best offensive creator in the draft and has the most offensive upside.

I'm with you on this. I think Cody Williams is a fine prospect....but I don't see this swiss army knife/super versatile player others are seeing. In fact, I think one of the more notable things about Cody WIlliams is that besides scoring, he didn't really offer much. He's able to get to the basket and score, that's great, but I don't see what else he does. Peripheral numbers for him are almost non existent.

Seems like he's getting hype as a defender, but that kind of came out of nowhere. I'll have to to check some film on this, but on paper it's not good for him.

I still think of him as a TJ Warren type prospect (he can score but not much else).

Yep. People are obsessing about his size which is a weakness but his shot creating ability is special and we are talking about the 10th pick in the draft. I think his worst case scenario is a good sparkplug off the bench which every team could use. The concern is that he is Brandon Jennings but I think he is a much better shooter and his handle is Kyrie level.

yup. something between jennings and kyrie is a good comp. trae young as a scorer (but not passer/playmaker) is another sensible high end comp for him.
