2024 NBA Draft Mega Thread

Yep. People are obsessing about his size which is a weakness but his shot creating ability is special and we are talking about the 10th pick in the draft. I think his worst case scenario is a good sparkplug off the bench which every team could use. The concern is that he is Brandon Jennings but I think he is a much better shooter and his handle is Kyrie level.
Yeah, you dont throw the 10th pick away on a guy who is going to be one of hte worst defenders in the NBA. Its not a great pick, but you dont waste it on mediocrity.

And I talked about this in the Sexton thread I made, but the Jazz arent desperate for offense. They need 2-way players or guys who can have some sort of impact on D, not the most one sided lottery prospect in recent memory.

Agreed... but I would also add something. You only drafting him if you think he's a special offensive player.... AND if you think he can stay on the floor defensively. Because it doesn't really matter if he's great offensively if he can't hang on D. If he truly cannot stay on the floor because of defensive liabilities, then he is Boban(type).
I mean, he should be able to do drop coverage, and he’s stronger and a better passer than Boban. If he has the potential to break the game on the offensive side of the floor (against small/lanky ball) and his weakness is giving up the midrange on defense, that’s a highly useful net positive.

There was some conversation earlier about trading Kessler for #9 straight and someone commented that they wondered if packaging #9 and #10 would be enough to trade up to #1. I’d rather have two shots in this crapshoot than risk paying the MLE+ to one bust.
BTW, this thread of thought is what led to my loud homer post about Shepherd that was mostly centered on how he’s the only one I felt confident enough about to trade up for.

Why would we draft Dillinghan when we already have Sexton/JC/Key on the team? These guys are so small that we can't stack their minutes at all, meaning Dillinghan will barely get to play unless we ship away Sexton/JC/Key but it would be so much easier just to not draft him.

Shep is number one on my board this year. One reason is that I don’t think there’s anyone else too special in this draft, but the other is when I took a deep dive into him it was incredibly encouraging. I get the concerns about him, some of them are very valid/fair, but imo he has the best chance to be a star and also has a very soft landing as a super useful role player. His numbers without Dillingham (SSS tbf) were even more bonkers.

I think he needs to improve his handle. That’s the number one thing holding him back….but if there was a player I’d trade up for he’d be at the top of my list.

Leif Thulin is going on about a rumor that the Jazz would trade Kessler and #10 to Houston for #3. Other than the self-proclaimed stock picker on Twitter, has anyone else pushed that rumor?
