2024 NBA Draft Mega Thread

i feel similar. there are guys i like more than others, but none i'd absolutely hate. not a fan of cody williams, but it's hard to argue his potential so i'd be just fine with him. i hate dillingham's fit, but he'd be a ton of fun as a young player to have on the team - certainly wouldn't be a boring pick.
The only way I would be disappointed is if they moved it for a mid win-now vet that is a treadmill deal.

Here's a completely unnecessary conspiracy theory: The Jazz have an agreement in place to trade up with someone, and that team is trading back to #10 to draft Edey. Hence the rumor that the Edey has a promise in the top 10. I would guess that the team in question is probably Detroit at #5, where the Jazz will take either Sheppard or Williams. Hence, there's a rumor that Cody Williams might get drafted "higher than people think." The new GM in Detroit is Trajan Langdon, who came over from New Orleans. The Pels' last two centers were Jonas Valanciunas and Steven Adams, both big, physical drop bigs. The Jazz will draft Edey at #10, but it will be for the team they're trading up with.

Meanwhile, Portland and Memphis are trying to trade up to #3 for Clingan. Concurrently, Memphis put out a gambit that they might be interested in Edey, just to try to screw a bit with the Jazz. (The fact that Memphis is allegedly trying to move up would negate the possibility that they gave Edey a promise at #9.) If Clingan goes at #3 and San Antonio takes Castle at #4, then Sheppard could potentially get to #5. The Jazz would then have their choice of both Sheppard and Williams.

I am concerned that Cody Williams is Kevin Knox reincarnated. My biggest issue is that he plays in complete comatose. Does not play hard, does not do a lot of things on the court.

Can score though....I think he does have talent he doesn't do a ton.

I think Cody was more passive and marginalized after his injuries. In the beginning of the season, Cody was effectively Colorado's lead ball handler and looked good. He averaged ~17 ppg early in the season.

I could see that. He does seem like he moves differently than Knox and maybe would be a better defender at least. At 10 I’m cool with any of the wings and I think Williams may not last until 10… which I’m also cool with.

There was not a single point in the season where he averaged 17 ppg.....but the scoring isn't the issue I have anyways. He doesn't rebound, he's not a playmaker, he doesn't make things happen on defense with his length. I think there's a high chance he just fades away into the background at the next level when he's physically overwhelmed.

At 10 he's fine. I'm just not ecstatic about trading up for him. I felt way more intrigued about trading up last year.

Cody was on a stacked team if vets and he was not assertive. There's enough there for me to believe the built in excuses over him not being good

Fwiw Knox was known as a non-worker

Is Cody known as a worker? I honestly don't know, he just doesn't look like a very active player on film. I get not having a high usage....but I feel like he should be able to make more things happen in general with his length.

Unless we are getting in the top 4 I'm cool just letting whoever fall to 10 at this point. I would want Castle, Sarr, Shep, or maybe Clingan... otherwise whoever slides.

I would trade up for Shep, Sarr, and maybe Castle. I have a really hard time separating Holland/Williams/Salaun. Last year was tightly packed and we were at the end of a tier of players, I still felt strongly about who I wanted. This year not so much. I'm also content with whoever slides.
