2024 NBA Draft Mega Thread

This is from Givony from yesterday:

The buzz right now is that Sarr sees himself as a 4 and doesn’t want to go to Atlanta for some reason. He’s nearly a lock to go 2 to WAS.

Atlanta is looking at taking Risacher at 1 or trading back 2-3 slots for Clingan.

Houston is still open to trading their pick. With Charlotte looking to move up for Sheppard and both Portland and Memphis wanting Clingan, along with possibly Atlanta, it seems there’s a solid chance Houston’s pick could move. There definitely seems to be a market for it.

Castle is expected to go either 4 to SAS or 6 to CHA.
Because there is no certainty regarding what Atlanta is doing and teams have no idea who holds power in the org. It's a mess until they make some franchise defining moves.

Really? First time I'm hearing this. Everything that talks about his intangibles/motor gives him glowing reviews, it's one of the reasons I'm high on him.
Yeah, he has motor and intangibles during the game is the point

Not saying that's how he currently is, but it was what he was known for in HS.

Checks out logically because his jumper is awful despite not having any clear mechanical flaws

Do we think he just doesn't have the drive and determination to just spend hours and hours in the gym piling up repetitions?

If the Jazz want Cody Williams, I think they probably need to trade up to 5 or 6. Maybe there’s a scenario where he gets to 8 and the Spurs are willing to trade back to 10, but I wouldn’t count on either of those things.
I don't see Utah trading up for anyone outside of Castle and I don't think they do that either

Jake Fischer's article from yesterday. If it's true that Memphis wants front-court help, the Spurs should be confident they can trade back to 10 and get their choice of Carter, Dillingham or Topic. With the 8th pick, the Jazz would be in better range to trade up to 5 or 6.

I wouldn't be confident in anything with this draft.

Reading that article, it definitely paints the picture of a guy who was super talented (physically) and was always on the best team so he won anyways. His coaches were the one's who had to adjust and deal with it because he was simply too good at that level. They weren't able to get to him and because he was good enough to win it didn't matter. The G-League is obviously where the talent caught up to him. Seems like it was an opportunity for him to really start grinding....but judging by the way he's falling I'm guessing that's not checking out and teams are not impressed by his interviews/behavior in G-League ignite.

His motor is definitely evident in the games, but he won't improve much unless he changes his mentality. I still like the combo of physically gifted + crazy motor....but this is definitely a concern.

Basically there with you. He's probably the prospect I'm the least confident in with my ranking. I think I have him 14 or 15? But yeah, could easily see him being the best player and I wouldn't laugh if Atlanta took him 1.

The draft process has me skeptical....I feel like teams were probably zereod in on this stuff and did not impress.

Having said that, one of the things I'm going to try avoid is being too harsh on a young kid's maturity. He's still 18 years old, maybe he was that overconfident/difficult player to coach....but that change won't happen overnight. If the coaching staff can get to him and he matures, that could open the door to rapid improvement that was being held back by his lack of practice.
