2025-2026 Tank Race Prediction Contest and Current Results Thread

I've seen way more posts from you complaining about these phenomena, than people actually dying on the various hills of player development, anti tanking, or winning culture. I think you're tilting at windmills a bit tbh.

Caught me. Couldn't resist the urge to further point out that those arguments are as dumb as ever.

I guess if you're fine with what the Jazz have been doing, I haven't seen much of these arguments you're talking about honestly.

I've seen plenty of people complaining that the Jazz should be doing more to tank, but people who think the Jazz should be doing more to win? Nah.

I think the Jazz have been good about it, but not perfect. But I don't know why you're so fixated on that. Even if the Jazz did exactly as I had hoped I would still find it relevant to post about. I'm not fixated on being a homer or complainer, I'm here to talk about the topic of tanking in the tanking thread. Those discussions we had when the season started are as relevant as ever with the tank race heating up.

You made just made a post saying that development would have been thrown entirely out the window btw, which is exactly the thing I'm pointing out in my post.

It's fine to discuss. I'm just wondering who this mysterious group of people is that you called stupid.

I've already clarified that my comment was a comparison between two extremes (what people in gamethreads complain about vs what the Jazz are actually doing).

I can understand your initial misinterpretation because I probably wasn't clear enough to begin with, but the fact that you're still not understanding makes me wonder if a lot of these arguments you're seeing exist only in your head.

Cross your fingers Indiana decides to play for the 10th slot and win some games. They have 9 games vs tanking team left. Could be huge if they decide to win.
They would be foolish to do so. Right now they are 10 games behind the 10th team. It is very hard to make up 11 wins in 31 games.

What I’m specific speaking too are the people who were dying on a hill for dumb things like playing Svi to establish a winning culture or player development strategy. That’s just one example of those endless conversations we’ve had over and over. A couple more L’s could change the tank race, but a couple more W’s is not changing the dynamic of culture or player development in any meaningful way.

And the idea that the tank was “fine” or not was just a dumb concept in the first place. Even if there were no pick protection at all it would be very well worth it simply for the higher odds at top 4.

We were not deciding between a tanking and not tanking team. We were tanking between a tanking team and a team that would take anyways and destroy whatever benefit we were pretending to have by delaying. Thank goodness Nepo was quicker than Ainge to pivot.
We have to play Lauri 48 minutes per game to get him in the all star game!

Not when everyone is trying to lose
You are talking about overtaking the Blazers (not trying to lose), Hornets (not trying to lose) or Clippers (have no incentive to tank). All of those teams are likely to win at least 7-10 more games. For the Pacers to surely end up in the 10th place they would need to go something 29-12. That's a lot to ask from the 13-38 team.

Tanking like hell to increase their top-4 chances seems to be a much better strategy.
