The NBA kind of forced out their general manager. I'm not sure that's "nothing."

You have that backwards. We would have a 60% chance of keeping the pick at 8th worst record. We keep the pick of it ends up at 8.
 
Here's my power ranking for most motivation/least motivation in the tank race:
1. Washington - Bad Team, no All Stars, top 8 pick protected
2. Utah - Bad Team, top 8 pick protected, but at least we have Keyonte and Lauri
3. Brooklyn - Bad Team, Last year to get a good player, doesn't control future draft picks
4. Dallas - Last year to get a good player, doesn't control future draft picks
5. Indiana - Gap year
6. Sacramento - The team is a mess
7. Charlotte - Bad team, but on the rise
8. Memphis - Potentially Looking to rebuild
9. Portland - Trying to make playoffs, but also owe a top 14 pick
10. Chicago - Mid Team
11. Milwaukee - Trying to win for Giannis
12. NOP - Doesn't own their pick
13. LAC - Doesn't own their pick
14. ATL - Doesn't own their pick
