Honestly now that we know we arent getting Cooper, I dont think JK is an awful fit if we are keeping Lauri and trying to move fowrad, but again, if you get Kuminga in with Lauri, then you are looking at competing for the play in, which doesnt seem ideal with the OKC protection.

I think JK can get numbers and still not really push winning... definitely not to the extend Collins does... but you also can't likely bench him without some issues.

IDK... I wouldn't do it if it jeopardizes the tank.

That's the type of deal that makes sense.

I was getting kind of crazy in my head with Lauri + 5 + another first for Tatum.

Offloading Holiday fixes a lot of their salary issues if they can find someone that will do it without compensation. Collins can play the starting forward spot for Tatum for a year. Zinger's deal expires and then they would be out of jail. I can see a team still really wanting Holiday. Even thought about the Bucks with a Dame three way.

Ok, I think this is a pretty good trade for both sides.

Spurs get Lauri to have a core of Fox/Lauri/Harper/Vassell/Wemby. Also get to get off the Johnson contract, which is kind of pricey for his quality of player.

Jazz get a low tier blue chip prospect in Castle, a potentially high pick in 2027, and they swap 21 for 14 to move up in the draft. Threw in KJ Martin just to give the Spurs a contract, but it isnt necessary to get the deal done.

The quality of the deal is kind of a gamble on both sides. If the Hawks are terrible in 2027, maybe the Spurs regret it, and if the Hawks are play-in team again (like always) maybe the Jazz regret not pushing for more.

Unless BKN or DET saves him, he's going to have to take the QO or find a S&T destination. S&T opens up a lot of possibilities like ourselves, but I could see him taking a very large one year deal with the rest unguaranteed. S&T need to be 3 years long, but only the first year guaranteed. We can pay him a massive one year deal with the other two years non-guaranteed and it would probably be more or similar to what he could get on longer, guaranteed deals.

I think JK for Collins makes sense, I also think we revisit the Lauri option. I still think their picks are as good as ever. You could say the ship may have sailed with Jimmy there, but in for a penny in for a pound. They made a move to try to salvage the last years of Curry, and we're being honest doubling down on him should have been what they've been doing for years.

Even with his late season play, I think you've got be crazy to invest heavily into Kuminga right now. That idea is gone, but he is just what we should want as salary ballast.

I could probably get on board with that as long as it includes all of their picks. 26 & 28 unprotected, as well as 27, 29 and 31 most favorable swaps with any of our currently owned picks. Kuminga, Moody and Trayce Jackson-Davis. I think I’s still probably prefer a top 10 pick from this draft, but I wouldn’t hate this either.

With the East being potentially more open than any conference in like the last 15 years or so... I wonder if it makes teams go for it a little early. Like would Detroit do Harris, Ivey, and a couple unprotected firsts for Lauri (ideally I'd want 3 but feels rich right now).

We have a thousand picks in 2027. It would be the better of Atlanta or SA. I think the 2026 draft is a better quality than 2027 but who knows. I think there will be some sad west teams next year as 14/15 teams will be trying to start the season. Atlanta is as mid as they ever were... I think you have two chances to end up with some lotto odds if a team gets hurt and it spreads the picks out.

That is my rationale. I would expect SA to make the playoffs with Lauri... but one or two injuries and it gets ugly in the west next year.

Are you sure the other years don't have to be guaranteed? I feel like the trade schematics wouldn't work because I don't know if JK can get $46M to match directly to Lauri (not sure on first year max) and they may need to stay under an apron or two to aggregate salaries. If it was possible to do a 1 year JK at like 35M and then get Moody and picks for Lauri I'd be game... just not sure of all the ins and outs.

There is some string of posts where I went through this. But chances of me landing on the correct conclusion are not high...I hate this stuff. Anyways....

The S&T contract must be for 3 years, but only one of the years needs to be guaranteed. I'm 100% sure on this. S/O to my guy DaQuan Jeffries.

The Warriors will be hard capped at the first apron. To get Lauri, be under the apron and still have the ability to build a team they would probably have to add Moody and Hield. Hield, Moody, and Kuminga would have them under the apron and a decent amount of room to fill out the roster. Something around the Taxpaying MLE, but cutting it tight if they use all of that.

I think they will very very likely be looking to cut some money. I know we don't have a lot of cap room to help them out, but we might be able to help a little?

I think Brooklyn is far more likely to take advantage of that situation.

Giannis gets his buddy back and some guard help. They get the late first from Boston. Jrue's contract is dicey. Boston gets enormous savings this year and next. By moving the first they can give a lower salary number to the prospects they take in the second. I think their tax is like 7 or 8x for every 1$ right now... so saving 6M plus a couple mil on roster spots is like 50-60M in savings. Next year they are out of the tax hell since Collins and Zinger expire. We get the 2031 Bucks pick unprotected.
