2025 Off-Season Trade Ideas Thread

Lakers could give us more than that. They already showed they give 2030 pick swap and their 2031 unprotected first with Dalton Knecht for Mark Williams.
Carter>Knecht
2026 Kings pick >2031 LA unprotected and swap

Which West teams will Sacramento be better than after the trade. New head coach. Prickly vets. That pick gonna be in the lotto in a nice draft.

Half of my assessment on Kessler, if I was calling the shots, would be on what extension he is looking for. 5/125M... I am not looking to move him and asking for full Danny Ainge price. 5/175M and I am making a few calls.

One trade is realistic and one is not
Its plenty realistic. If the Lakers trade is giving us more then how is it realistic and the Kings one is not?

Jazz trade Lauri Markkanen + 5 to the Spurs for Keldon Johnson + Harrison Barnes + 2

I think this trade makes sense for both teams but not sure if the Spurs pass on selecting Harper.

Jazz trade John Collins + Jordan Clarkson + Svi Mykhailiuk + 5 to Celtics for Jaylen Brown

Celtics save a ton of money, get 5, tank next year with Tatum out (they own their own pick). Then have a younger team around him when he comes back in 2026-27.

Is this the type of move we should be making right now? Probably not but it’s interesting. We could actually get a little more wild and add in Sexton + Martin to get Jrue Holiday as well.

Jazz trade Walker Kessler to the Lakers for Dalton Knecht + 2028 pick swap + 2030 pick swap + 2031 unprotected first + 2032 pick swap

This obviously makes us worse next year. Maybe we don’t love the idea of extending Kessler at the contract he might command. 3 swaps and a premium unprotected first plus Knecht for Kessler is more than fair value I think.

Jazz trade Collin Sexton + 21 to the Magic for Cole Anthony + 16

Not sure this is the best value but we do move up 5 spots and it makes us worst next year.

Jazz trade John Collins + Jordan Clarkson + 21 for to the Pelicans for Zion Williamson

I don’t know if this is enough for Zion but the price would be low enough for me to be very interested.

Don't think this is enough value for Lauri or Sexton.

I understand the concept of making the team worse for the tank but trading those guys just to move up a few spots in the draft is selling very low on guys of Lauri's and Sexton's quality.

They've almost certainly already agreed to an extension number under the table. I would guess it's like 5/175.

They passed Kessler's peak value at the deadline (when the Lakers were absolutely desperate for a center and had no real options other than Kessler) and he could have gotten 2029 and 2031 firsts and Knecht at the deadline. They don't turn that down unless they already agreed to an extension with Kessler.

Because the Lakers literally completed a trade at the deadline for a worse player…

The Lakers' offer was likely inflated by the fact that there were so few options out there. They needed a center very badly to help Luka and LeBron and only non-playoff teams would trade away their center. That left almost no one. With free agency as an option as well, it will be a lot easier for the Lakers to get a center this offseason.

Who’s the free agent they’re going to get?

That doesn't explain how it is more and the other trade is unrealistic.
