2025 Off-Season Trade Ideas Thread

This trade just makes so much sense to me. The only reason you don't do this if you're the Jazz is if you could find something even better. Collins/Sexton/Juzang to the Bucks for Lillard and their 2027 1st.

They don't have their 2027 first and can't trade any pick outright except 2031 right now.

The Dame trade just makes too much sense. Say you get like a top 10 protected first that turns into a second for Collins and Clarkson... flip Sexton to Orlando separately to move up 5 spots and get a second... Its the only way to powder keg the vets and get zero vet value returning. It would be great if Giannis said he's staying... but if not make the deal easy enough that they do it anyway to entice him to stay. Maybe just make it two seconds in 2031 and 2032 (would have to wait until league year turns over but could agree now).

Andy Larsen was talking about how trading the vets is an imperfect tanking solution because you will get some returning value... this is the way to stop that.

I don't really need much from the Bucks draft compensation wise. The only thing you'd have to consider is that we are punting on cap space next summer, but should we really ever get our hopes up for cap space?

Dame is also not completely dead. Achilles at age 35 is tough, of course, but he's probably still going to be NBA level when he comes back. He can play a season then if both sides want he can be re-signed to a more appropriate contract to finish his career. He doesn't have more future value than Sexton+Collins, but can't have those two and still tank.

You can sell it to Lauri/fans that we're tanking this last one year and then starting to move forward with another top draft prospect in hand and no pick protection cloud hanging over the franchise.

Are you saying Fanspo has it wrong then? Fanspo says they have their pick, NO just has rights to pick swap.
NOP or Atlanta will get that pick. Should not be listed in their incoming picks.

It was originally traded to NOP unprotected in the Jrue trade. They used it in the DJM trade by giving Atlanta the worst of NOP/MIL pick with additional top 4 protection.

Fanspo is right but they are listing the right to swap only 1-4 the pick is owned by NOP. If it falls in the protections the lesser of the picks goes to Atlanta... they don't have a pick for 2027. 1-4 it goes to NOP essentially... outside of that it goes to Atlanta

Unless we are taking on salary dumps then I think we could functionally use Dames contract to acquire someone as the salary medium.

I think you loop in Orlando and send like KCP to Bucks, Sexton to Orlando, Collins KCP to Milwaukee as well. If we sent both Collins/Sexton I would want a protected first. Say its Collins and Clarkson tho... I would be fine with a second. I think they would do that deal regardless of what Giannis is saying tbh. Could also do Cole Anthony but I figured KCP is a deal they'd like to get out of... and it runs as long as Dame's so Milwaukee is still fine.

Some fans lost their minds when I proposed it with a first in there... so fans are gonna fan but I think it is a tank move that isn't reprehensible.

MIL could also be a destination for Beal. Maybe they can force him out this time. Sexton+Collins is a pretty good expiring contract duo and PHX could use both of them. We could get back some of the crappy picks we got or get their 26 (I think it's the worst of like 7 different teams, but it can be our swap pick for other potential trades).

I think the 26 pick is gone but 28 is available. I think 26 went out for the Nic Richards deal/Nurkic dump.

I would try to sub in Clarkson where I could as that would be part of the value. I think Sexton can be moved separately... but they also might give up another light asset to get Sexton... that light asset might come from the KD trade.

Mil was rumored to be in on Beal last year. No idea if that convinces Giannis to stay or makes more sense than something else they could do.

The other appeal to the trade from Milwaukee's side... they can retain Lopez on a one year deal if they want... same with Trent jr. If Giannis goes through the year and isn't happy still... you can sell him on having a billion dollars in cap space to fill in around him with hand picked players. They would have Giannis and Kuzma on the books and nothing else.

If Giannis still wants out... you have a completely clean cap sheet.

I'd pitch them Collins and Clarkson - We get a second rounder and a swap on a swap in 2030. Collins and Sexton... we want the first (we can kick over a second or two if needed to smooth over the offer).

Cooked up this monster a while ago and - assuming the proper opt-ins - I think it makes tons of sense. Fanspo didn't have 2032 picks available, but Phoenix and the Jazz each get a Bucks 2nd.
