2025 Off-Season Trade Ideas Thread

My dream is that we trade Lauri to get 3, draft Tre, trade back for assets with Washington, get Kon, use Washington assets plus Sexton, plus 21 ( if we still have it) or other assets to get up high enough for Demin. Keep George, keep Collins, roll out and play basketball with what we have.

Trade idea with the news that CLE is open to trading Garland:

Lauri -> CLE
Garland -> SAC
Kangz picks -> UTA
With Cavs being in 2nd apron it's near impossible for them to acquire Lauri. They can't aggregate players in a trade and their big tradable salaries such as Garland and Allen make less than Lauri. Don's extension kicks in for next season and will match Lauri's salary but they aren't doing that.

The 2nd apron making is so they can’t aggregate salaries is going to become a major trade issue for these high tax teams. When you have to sell guys in one off deals, it adds some complexity.

I think a logical move for Garland would be to ORL for Suggs. If your team needs Garland needs more than they need Suggs, are you actually a contender?

Suggs has had one good season in the NBA. He's easily the most overrated player in the entire league.

A guard with negative offensive win shares 3 out of 4 years and tons of injury issues for a fringe all-star (though one with tons of injury issues too)?

Did you just say offensive win shares? LMAO

I'm using offensive win shares because 0.0 is basically a Mendoza line. OWS aren't the best stat and neither is batting average, but you're below 0.0 or below .200, you're probably pretty bad except in extraordinary circumstances.

If healthy and shooting 36% from three, he's like the 15th best SG in the NBA.

With all this in mind, do you think the Suggs contract was an overpay? I believe it is 30 million per.

If you use offensive win shares, you’re either an idiot or in bad faith. Nobody making a sound argument would ever resort to offensive win shares. There is no Mendoza line because nobody should ever take a win shares argument seriously.

The idea of holding his rookie and sophomore seasons against him now is stupid in the first place. You’re not trading for rookie Jalen Suggs or any player for who they were 4 years ago in their rookie season lol.

The Cavs need to cut money and find a backcourt partner for Mitchell. Mitchell isn’t willing to defend or share the offensive load, so a defensive guard like Suggs is perfect. His descending contract is also great for their financial situation. The Cavs could get Suggs and fill the well back up with future picks.
