2025 Off-Season Trade Ideas Thread

Not to be cynical, but I wonder how much of the Yang pick is less about basketball fit and more about money. Like, I’m certain that they’re going to sell a crap-ton of merchandise for a backup center. Maybe he hits and reaches his potential (and I’m a fan) but even if he doesn’t, you have to think the Blazers come out ahead in ROI.
You dont draft at 16 for that. They liked him. If you want to get a random Chinese/Asian player to boost that stuff, you can get them on 2-ways like what Memphis did with the small Japanese PG

PG: Clayton JR, Collier, Harkless
SG: Bailey, Keyonte, Clarkson Juzang
SF: Hendricks, Sensabaugh, Williams
PF: Lauri, Filipowski
C: Walker, Oscar

Pending off the roster: Sexton/Collins

Fingers crossed they can get Penda, Fleming, or Raynaud.
Kind of depressed looking at this team thinking about what a perfect fit Hansen Yang would have been at the 5 on a team with WCJ/Ace as guards. We'd have given Yang all the pieces around him to be a dominant hub.

Zero passing/playmaking lineup. You've gotta love it baby,

Sorry, I should’ve been more clear. I think he’s a player and was hoping the Jazz would consider taking him at #21. The value of the pick is fine. Possibly even the fit. But it does make me wonder how often money decisions go into player evaluations. It was definitely something on my radar. I’m assuming it was for the Blazers as well.

I mean, you got to go with your best players. At least that starting lineup has a lot of shooting and defensive length. Not like our playmaking options (Collier/Keyonte) are high level.

I like that this lineup puts the keys in WCJ/Ace's hands to be playmakers and primary drivers for a team. Obviously this isnt a complete team and we are hopefully getting that complete two way player next draft, but I really like that starting lineup.

I would start at least one of Flip or Collier.

It's just hard to start Flip. I think he's better coming off the bench as a 3rd big.

Collier could start, but my money currently would be on the older WCJ (who I'm currently drinking koolaid on)

I like the lineup for the most part (shooting and defense as you said) but your putting alot of faith in Bailey being the 2nd creator in that lineup. I suppose it's a bit of a "deep-end" approach but I don't think I can argue against it.

It doesn't really matter who starts at the end of the day. If we're interested in playing real basketball, I think we should have at least one of our two guys who want to pass on the court in all of our lineups. It's better for the development of everyone. I see Flip as a 3rd big long term, but he's going to play his minutes idc if it's as a starter or bench player. I just want some kind of passing/playmaking on the court so everyone can play a more realistic form of basketball.

Still looking at Jarace and Mathurin as trade targets. Lets say we start with Key as the outgoing salary. What are we willing to put in (if anything at all) to get either player?
